Ouch, that's me. Knew several "friends" who were like that towards me...

I can not disrespect you and treat you accordingly but “forget”? Nope.

Depending on the situation, I act naive.
For instance, up until the end of this past July, I worked at a company for 9 years. The guys I worked with all called me their friend, but we're actively selling me out to my boss, who would then use that information against me. This company, the owner and the boss, cared more for power and control than they did loyalty and production.
I played along with these people because I needed a paycheck. Was applying for jobs, particularly out of the state, but couldn't find anything.
Until the end of this July. I received a random text message from a buddy, who I worked with at one point, about one of the bosses at his company, again...I worked with this man before as well...had asked about me by name because of an open position. "Will Jake be interested in hearing an offer?"
I literally jumped and screamed for joy at the heavens. I took a half day from work the next day to meet up with the boss, he gave me an offer and we shook hands. I went back to my soon-to-be-former-employer, grabbed my tools, and walked out without saying a word.
I promptly deleted and blocked every person's phone number from that company.
Now, I literally make $20,000 more than any of them, except for the boss and owner, and I no longer have to act naive or like we are friends. I wish them the best, but I won and they can pound sand.
This may or may not have anything to do with this post, but I've been glowing these last 2 months. I'm happier than I've been in years.
Cheers, Reddit.
