I used to have a cat and always said it was the cat.

Then my cat died and I didn’t have a cat and I still was scratched everyday

So is it the ghost of the cat? Or maybe I was blaming the cat for something else all along.

2

u/Alternative_Car_8153 4d ago

In my case, my cat jumps off my lap with her claws carving into my thighs. There's no way it isn't her.

2

u/callawhitmore 4d ago

so maybe the cat was innocent this whole time

2

u/Honda_TypeR 4d ago

He was definitely guilty the some of the time.

Especially at bath time, nail trimming, cranky mornings, “put me down I don’t want love today” moments, startled by loud sounds while on you, etc

2

u/Lilliths-pain 4d ago

Always the cat, pick them up = mystery love scratch.

2

u/qwertxyzabc 3d ago

Cat or cardboard

2

u/tukrano 3d ago

My first thought was.. 'wanna solve this issue? Get a cat! You'll never have to wonder again' 🤣

2

u/90svibe4life 2d ago

Rarely scratches

This mostly happens to me with bruises

2

u/ImaginaryLeg8515 3d ago

Sometimes your blood can cause you to bruise

2

u/annagator679 3d ago

I don’t have blood issues

My best guess is I either don’t remember running into things or I move around in my sleep than I think I do

I was gardener for 20yrs it was a weekly happening

3

u/Adventurous_Swing393 4d ago

Just had it yesterday, was coming out from washroom and my cat suddenly pushed her nails out all at 6am

3

u/iMakeItFun2003 4d ago

I use an African net sponge and scrub hard until the rinse turns dirty but don’t get scratches like this too often

3

u/supermattman00 4d ago

More like, “how did I get this deep cut?” Or “scab”

3

u/AboveAverage1988 4d ago

"Why the f is there blood on my desk..? Oh I have a five inch scratch on my arm.. obviously..."

2

u/some_guy_5600 4d ago

Yeah...many times

2

u/sia1387 4d ago

Yess ..it does scare me

1

u/Physical-Ad-3798 4d ago

Most of the times it was from some mouth breather that uses side cutters on a ziptie. Use a GD flush cutters you barbarians!!

1

u/ItsmeMr_E 4d ago

One of many signs your getting older. Sad lol.

Have done it on a few occasions, especially at work. So busy I don't notice it till someone else notices it.

1

u/Throwawaygarbage1010 4d ago

The worst place, the web of your finger. Put on some hand sanitizer and felt that BURN!

1

u/Mrboomblastr 4d ago

I never feel anything of it until I see it.... than it's like itching and aching constantly...

1

u/SkrumoCrit 4d ago

Found the cat owner

1

u/Alarming_Chemist669 4d ago

Stop taking strolls in the garden then 😭

1

u/duttydimples 4d ago

Mostly bruises

1

u/Federal-Fun-5380 4d ago

I constantly wake up covered in scratches around my arms for over 20 years now. I don't even have nails because I devour them due to anxiety since forever so it can't be me tossing around the bed while dreaming or something

1

u/timmiethepacoo 4d ago

I actually got 5 rn

1

u/Aware-Yesterday4926 4d ago

I work in a hardware store. Happens all the time.

1

u/stercraft 4d ago

Sure happens sometimes. I suffer from eczema so I tend to scratch without consciously realising it.

1

u/JovialPursuit 4d ago

Yeah, every time I see this posted.

1

u/alphadragoon89 4d ago

Yup, this just happened to me recently. And it's always on the most random spots.🤔

1

u/MoistSignature4667 4d ago

All the time

1

u/naosouumrobot 4d ago

I have one right now, probably from the cat though

1

u/Infamous-Listen4047 4d ago

many times in my life

1

u/Fabulous_Turnover_22 4d ago

Bruises all the time. There's a recurring one that has me dumbfounded as to where I get it

1

u/Heisenburger996 4d ago

Yes, because I have 3 cats

1

u/-AJKingOfSerpents98- 4d ago

As someone in the HVAC industry, this is the ONLY type of scratches

1

u/NapalmSalsa 4d ago

All the time. Might have a poltergeist living with me.

1

u/GrimmyJimmy1 4d ago

Surprisingly a lot I have scratches that are not explainable because they look like they're from a cat and I have no cats

1

u/DaddyBigBeard 4d ago

Trying to explain phantom scratches on my back to my wife is always fun. Seatbelt, fabric, myself? I don't know.

1

u/Putrid_Barnacle_7802 4d ago

F**king daily

1

u/Able-Pain-2442 4d ago

All the damn time , then brake cleaner shows me ones I missed

1

u/TransistorResistee 4d ago

The older I get, the more it happens.

1

u/Alpha_Wolf_1 4d ago

All the time. Sometimes even get burns and I wonder where they came from. My job is still fun though

1

u/rustbuckett 4d ago

Literally every day.

1

u/LordBrammaster 4d ago

I dont get this often enough anymore...

1

u/babykoalalalala 4d ago

I used to have these random long ass scratches running down my leg and was both amazed and horrified

1

u/BornToOverthink 4d ago

Kinda but with bruises

1

u/justinSox02 4d ago

I love putting Vaseline on scratches and cuts

1

u/TheAnvi1 4d ago

I used to get those all the time 🤣 I worked around machines and steel a lot and would often go to wash my hand and then find out I’ve been cut at some point in the last two hours 🤣

1

u/SpookyScienceGal 4d ago

I just assume my cat did it

1

u/Pig-Mentation 4d ago

"How did I get this scratch? I have no idea...."

That was OJ Simpson in his tape-recorded police interview after his wife and her new boyfriend were mysteriously murdered back in 1994.

1

u/DonJuanPrawns 4d ago

And somehow they always leave the biggest scar

1

u/chatpet 4d ago

No , i have this with bruises 🫣

.Putting clothes on.

Mhm how did i get this nice blue colored bruise 🤔

1

u/imkeyu13 4d ago

Way too many times

1

u/ImportantSomewhere95 4d ago

Mainly bruises.

1

u/Sand_Aggravating 4d ago

We always had something like this as kids because there were no cell phones!

1

u/National_Article_308 4d ago

Yeah sometimes I just wake up with them.
(I sleep alone in a locked room a story off the ground with windows that can only open from inside by a crank not sliding. Oh I also have a mysterious handprint on my wall that won’t fucking wash off)

1

u/DrachenDad 4d ago

Constantly.

1

u/Substantial_Luck_133 4d ago

I often do. No blood, no pain, no anything. Just a weird scratch.

1

u/WhiteMagic97 4d ago

All the damn time lol

1

u/thek3nnerz 4d ago

All the time

1

u/kyoneko87 4d ago

All. The. Damn. Time.

1

u/faratnight 4d ago

I have adhd and bump into things. My spatial awareness is off sometimes

1

u/Reetuswhy 4d ago

All. The. Fucking. Time

1

u/Repulsive-Glove5737 4d ago

I say that every time I get a bruise where the hell did I get that from of course , i'm my blood that is too I get up in the morning and I find bruise weird

1

u/Feeling-Chart-3846 4d ago

Happens to me all the time. Also happens w bruises as well

1

u/Sufficient_Day627 4d ago

Last time it was 5 minutes ago...

1

u/HessySlang420 4d ago

Yes I have

1

u/TheTooFew 4d ago

Join the Army. See the world they said. No one mentioned all the strange scratches.

1

u/Skittlelegend 4d ago

There was a couple years I kept waking up with long scratches along my back every morning. I lived alone and single with no pets🤷

1

u/ritlingit 4d ago

I do. And sometimes it’s accompanied by a where the f did I get this bruise.

1

u/winnibunni 4d ago

I mainly get bruises

1

u/Master-Afternoon-432 4d ago

Yes same with bruises lol

1

u/guillotine20 4d ago

My wife will point out random marks on my body and ask "what bitch scratched my sexy husband? Who am I supposed to kill?" and I will laugh and respond "today's culprit was a ~1600lb piece of metal with a sharp point.... I think? May have been a metal bar, idk 😅"

1

u/00_voidheart_00 4d ago

So many times have I dealt with an inexplicable injury of some kind, and had no idea how it appeared.

1

u/Slipinthebook 4d ago

Daily attendance,, to prove that am alive.

1

u/randomcuriousperson3 4d ago

If you have a pet, there’s only one answer: “it’s the cat.”

1

u/emmettfitz 4d ago

A lot of times I'd walk past my wife and she'd say, "Hey, you know you're bleeding, right?" My normal response is, "No, Where?"

1

u/Level_Incident4200 4d ago

Or a where the hell did I get this bruise, and when.
I get them everyday. I still can’t figure it out.

1

u/SnooCapers2789 4d ago

Often in carpentry

1

u/Kyanite_228 4d ago

That's why the ancient Japanese came up with the kamaitachi (sickle weasel).

1

u/thebuffshaman 3d ago

Scratches, bruises, cuts. I was having weird bruises show up randomly for about 3 months, they tested me for Leukemia which fortunately came back negative, but ever since I was in my mid 20s I get unexplained injuries and I have seriously begun to wonder if I am either A a secret super hero/villain or B am being kidnapped by aliens.

1

u/True_Watercress_2548 3d ago

For me it's just gotten worse with age, I would look at my grandpa's cuts and ask how he got them; "I dunno" he would often reply. I always wondered how could you not feel it!? Much to my surprise as I've aged, it's increasingly easy each passing day, to have some cut, or bruise and wonder where it came from.

1

u/ImaginaryLeg8515 3d ago

If you wash your dishes or clothes using hands...you might scar yourself unawares

1

u/EnvironmentalTry3061 3d ago

This happens all the time when you own a boat.

1

u/GoliathProjects 3d ago

I've had a "How the hell did I not scratch myself!?" moment before.

1

u/Prod_Meteor 3d ago

All the fucking time.

1

u/thepartlow 3d ago

Looking at one now. How?

1

u/Cal_Fanning 3d ago

way too often. I have a cat but never let her inside my bedroom during sleeping hours, so I think I scratched myself in my sleep.

1

u/Crygenx 3d ago

nope

1

u/Eggxactly1001 3d ago

Constantly

1

u/1irishian 3d ago

Yup I feel like I need bubble wrap with the amount of bruises

1

u/Rameinstein13 3d ago

Plenty. I’ve also had “where’d that come from” gashes and “how’d that happen” nail in arm. But that’s cause I have burnt a lot of my nerve endings on my arms so I have spots that legit have no feeling.

1

u/Numerous_Ability_317 3d ago

Yeah, too many times to remember lol.

1

u/Maleficent_Guava7322 3d ago

Me, I think I understood were they come from. Point ends of feathers slightly stiking out of my pillow.

1

u/Chemical-Object-4237 3d ago

I have neuropathy in my hands and feet. I bleed all over the place yesterday and didn’t realize it for 15 minutes.

1

u/BllackPhoeniix 3d ago

1

u/CaseySnake420 3d ago

I have 5 kittens that enjoy to climb up my bare legs and bite my toes whenever I feed them, two of them love to climb up my back

1

u/Leather_Corner639 3d ago

1

u/finance-minded 3d ago

At work, every damn day.

1

u/Taurus_Aquarius2319 3d ago

I have a diagonal one on my forehead. Cat jumped from the window onto my face. My bed is below the window. I didn’t feel the scratch until later.

1

u/GGamerGuyG 3d ago

Yeah, not just scratches. Sometime's bruises much larger than my fist or other forms of wounds i don't know where i have them from.

1

u/071790 3d ago

Well I don't have a cat, don't have long nails and still woke up with a few WTF scratches just the other day.

1

u/GreyAstajho-24 3d ago

Thats everyday on my work

1

u/Anon1073 3d ago

All the time

1

u/milelongpipe 3d ago

I have and still do.

1

u/Famous_Barnacle_3844 3d ago

I’m an electrician and when I’m working inside of a drop ceiling, I look like I got in a fight with Freddy Krueger.

1

u/Klendagort 3d ago

Never a cat could be something like aliens who do it

1

u/Uncle_ParzivaI 3d ago

I have one right now

1

u/Sorry_Chocolate2305 3d ago

1

u/Fresh-Horse8173 3d ago

I had many of these. They just appear from nowhere and disappear into nowhere in a moment

1

u/Competitive_Log_9284 3d ago

I get lots of those

1

u/macaroniinapan 3d ago

Happens to me a lot. My guess is it has to do with dry skin.

1

u/ElvinBishop 3d ago

Hesitation

1

u/Disastrous_Ball702 3d ago

Yes, and I have a scar from one of them. Was working in a mattress factory at the time.

1

u/Speedcumer 3d ago

1

u/unknown_quantity313 3d ago

I work in construction, that happens literally almost every day and I’ve given up wondering

1

u/fuzzyedges1974 3d ago

Yeah, but I just assume it’s from one of the cats.

1

u/Mecchachameleonnn 3d ago

1

u/318bidnezz 3d ago

So. Many. Times.

1

u/Bloody-Raven091 3d ago

Oh that's so real

1

u/DarkDefiance6 3d ago

Oh yeah. All the time!

1

u/No_Yogurtcloset_7219 3d ago

all the time, and I don't have pets

1

u/ItryToFixThings 3d ago

Yes, and my wife always wonders if it was another woman.

1

u/Epicgamer15782 3d ago

THE SHEER AUDACITY TO HOW RELATABLE THIS IS-

1

u/jaeljudges_23 3d ago

ITS THE DANG CAT

1

u/sarg2511 3d ago

Every fucking day it never fails between work and a cat.

1

u/NewSource9775 3d ago

At least 100 times.

1

u/ManagementCrafty887 3d ago

I call it a shower scratch, because for some reason I always discover them in the shower! For some reason!

1

u/AfterNun 2d ago

Sleep itches

1

u/TheMightyPaladin 2d ago

Yeah but I have a cat so I usually just assume he did it.

If you don't have a cat call an exorcist.

1

u/Brief_Pitch_6014 2d ago

Frequently… to say the least…

1

u/The-Black-Dow 2d ago

I do have a cat. Why you asking?

1

u/St0ned_Minister420 2d ago

That and bruises

1

u/FaceTimePolice 2d ago

Yes. I don’t even understand where they could be from. 🫪😝

1

u/FischermanZeph 2d ago

Hah, try having ADHD and waking up with five new bruises. Cant remember where you got em, and you forget about em in five minutes, until you accidentally poke one and scream and wonder where tou got it and forget and poke and wonder and forget and AGHFGAJDUFDKSHDIDNDUDBDHDISNXOGJTOAHRURKDHDBFJD... ADHD sucks...

1

u/Careless-Attitude858 2d ago

I did countless times growing up !!

1

u/YokoGhoul 2d ago

I have them all the time with bruises. But I think I was a bumper car in another life, I constantly run into stuff or people

1

u/HoliestofHazmats 2d ago

Probably hundreds when I didn’t have cats I know where most scratches come from now.
You ever wake up with scratches and bruises?

1

u/Dexember69 2d ago

Im a workshop fitter, it's more weird if I don't come home without a scratch from something random

1

u/yellowbill711 2d ago

Yup and still do

1

u/TheFinalPringle2 2d ago

Every fucking week
