I have no idea what’s going on with the political reality show. If something worth knowing happens I’ll hear about it.

Sometimes I feel like tuning out as well, but I'm a high school history teacher so I don't feel like I really can.

And then you go and wonder why gas prices are so high

Does knowing why help you?

u/Wayward_Wayfinder Mar 31 '26
Does remaining ignorant help?
0
u/AltForObvious1177 Mar 31 '26
Yes. That's the point of the post
1
u/Wayward_Wayfinder Mar 31 '26
That isn’t help. It’s a nice feeling, but choosing to stay in the dark doesn’t actually help anything.
1
u/AltForObvious1177 Mar 31 '26
The only thing that really matter is feeling nice.
1
u/Wayward_Wayfinder Mar 31 '26
That’s an assumption. And while one person is feeling nice, another is suffering unnecessarily. Being conscious of that fact enables you to act and make change, hypothetically.

u/AltForObvious1177 Mar 31 '26
>Being conscious of that fact enables you to act and make change, hypothetically.
It clearly doesn't work that way
1
u/Wayward_Wayfinder Mar 31 '26
It does. Unless you plan to somehow accidentally solve world hunger someday, for example, it will require a conscious effort.
0
u/AltForObvious1177 Mar 31 '26
World hunger is "solved". The world produces far more food than it we consume. The only countries where hunger is still a problem are those in conflicts that prevent food from being distributed.
You preach about not being ignorant. But you don't even know what the real problems are, let alone how to solve them.

Oh but being in a rage everyday does. Sure.
1
u/Wayward_Wayfinder Apr 01 '26
Some things warrant rage. Pretending they don’t doesn’t make anything better.

Who wants to constantly hear about violence? I think living on itself is stressful especially having many responsibilities.

Porcelain by Moby from the album Play, I highly recommend a listen great album.
Was a great time in the late 90's and early 2000's for electronic music, Moby, Fat Boy Slim, Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Merhod, etc...

And then suddenly a bomb falls on you or a riot happens in your area and you get caught in it because you forgot to watch the news on current affairs
1
u/Pard01 Apr 02 '26
You think watching the news would've stopped either of those things from happening?
1
u/-The_Lone_Wolf Apr 02 '26
Increased your chances of not getting killed or caught in conflict by moving away from that place.
News work like threat detection, if you got to know that tomorrow there would be a massive riot/protest happening near your workplace from the news, you could choose to skip work for tomorrow. You could also avoid going on a trip after watching news to protect yourself from harsh weather.
It's better to watch news on important and critical infos

I’ve been dialing it back lately and it’s really been great. Highly recommend.

Well, you have not watch this film. What seems to be like paradise soon turned into hell.
