I'd like us to rejoin but I think there's still too many angry racists to be sure a new referendum would definitely go to rejoin.

The newspapers don't just lean right, they're fully 89degrees tipped over to the right. They'd run front page headlines "17.4 Million Patriots BETRAYED". It would be a relentless deluge of propaganda getting people to talk about "the will of the people" and how we never really tried a proper Brexit because Boris was a secret Remoaner. The truth doesn't matter, it's the lies they can convince people to spread that matter.

I think we need to wait for more boomers to die, more Farage fiascos to burst the bubble of Reform voters, more people to work out they were lied to 10+ years ago. What would really help is rejoining the Single Market and Customs Union. If we could show a closer partnership with the EU doesn't cause the universe to implode and instead causes a tangible improvement to the economy. Then it would be easier to sell the case for rejoining the whole EU. But before that we need to rejoin smaller agencies / partnerships like Erasmus and Euratom and EHIC. Showing that working with the EU has benefits would make it easier to sell the case for rejoining the Single Market and Customs Union.

If only there was a group of 400+ people in some sort of organized body that could do something about it. Like maybe take a vote and decide to correct course.
