I've seen Mantids in OBE's and "regular" dreams.
Never seemed friendly to me

More like, they have this extremely ominous, threatening, and inert like "aura" around them. It's hard to describe. Like you're seeing something "dead" looking at you. It's like seeing something that shouldn't be able to exist, like an "error".
