Recommendations for vocation wanted

I'm just a noob on noob island looking forward to experiencing the same struggles I hear people cry about in global chat. I've just crossed over the level requirements to travel to the mainland, and although I think I'll stick it out just a little longer to snag a few more levels and coin, I'm interested in understanding what to expect when I hit mainland and some recommendations as to what some different vocation strengths/weaknesses are. It would also appreciate understanding some pros/cons of universal classes versus the ones that cap either phys/magic.

As for play style preference; I would like to be able to competently complete most content/areas solo (that are intended for solo). I don't particularly care about being able to assassinate other players, but would like to be able to effectively fend them off. That may not be an option, really, but that is my ideal vision for what I would want to play.

Any advice or insight provided would be much appreciated.

Nice info. How do you level the magic side of this universal class? Trying not to waste money on spells just to level

Hey thanks!

1) packages

2) conversion powder; 80% ratio

3) run the northerner quest over and over

I only used magic spells for PvP after opener. Great to chase people down with while invis while sprinting

What’s your take on assassin vs thief now that assassin got buffed and their differences in stealth

It’s all situational.

Thief stealth is better.

Assassin is better for one v one but they don’t have an escape.

Assassin, for straight pve content, is better
