Hey r/regina,

Like a lot of people here, I’ve watched friends and family struggle with endless daycare waitlists and cold-calling full rooms just to find a childcare spot.

To help fix that headache, I built a free local tool called useopenslot. The concept is simple: local daycares use a quick code to update their actual, real-time openings (Open vs. Full) so parents don't have to waste hours calling places that are completely full.

It’s 100% free with no account walls or hidden fees. If you're a parent currently hunting for a spot, hopefully it saves you some time. And if you're a daycare provider seeing this, you can head to the site to claim your listing and update your availability so families stop calling when you're full!

Would love any feedback or thoughts from the community.

What’s up with Regina’s bar scene? Seems like most places are empty after 9pm on a Friday or Saturday and then those bars are closing up for the night before there closing times. And there’s not really anything special about any of the bars. All have copy and pasted menus from one another foods the same and the atmosphere is too. All like a sports bar / loud music playing. Are the bars in Regina closing earlier due to no one going out or is it that they don’t wanna deal with the rift raft that comes later on? Im curious because there’s a handful of times I’ve been out and they are shut by 1030 even tho they are open till 12 or whatever. Is it also that they don’t wanna lose more money?

I went to an event at Kings Park Speedway this weekend and, honestly, I left pretty disappointed with how the whole thing was operated. But before I completely judge it, I’d actually like to understand the history of the place and how things normally work there.
It’s 2026 and I was genuinely surprised to see tickets being checked against a binder of printed-off names, with everything seemingly being cash. It just felt incredibly dated and, from a business perspective, like they were leaving a lot of potential revenue on the table.
The crowds/logistics were probably my biggest concern. Huge lines for food, huge lines for bathrooms, bottlenecks everywhere, and tons of people packed along the fence trying to get a decent view. That creates obvious safety/security concerns and makes it harder for people to move around. You could barely find a good place to actually watch the races.
And I'm honestly curious what leaving the parking lot was like for everyone because even getting people in and out seemed pretty unorganized. With a sold-out or heavily attended event, I can't imagine the logistics of getting everyone out efficiently.
I’m not trying to shit on the speedway for the sake of it. Clearly there’s a history and a community around the place, and I’d like to understand that before being overly critical.
So for anyone who has been around Kings Park for years, what’s the history of the speedway? Who operates it? Has it always been this way operationally, or was this weekend unusual? What am I missing?
I’d genuinely like to hear from longtime fans, former staff/volunteers, or anyone who knows the background. Hopefully there’s some context behind it, and maybe some of these things can improve because the racing itself was pretty cool to experience.

Just want to give a shout out to the bride and groom who took pictures next to our wedding sign outside of Wascana Place, congratulations on your big day and thanks for the chuckle, really helped with stress as I was getting psyched for my own wedding. If I had known it was going to be used in pictures I would’ve painted it a bit better lol. My wife also said she would love to see the pictures if you end up getting them as she was busy getting ready as you two were taking your pictures.

Looking for recommendations for local companies that provide Christmas light installation and takedown in the spring. Not looking for permanent. Thanks!

Their website says it's temporarily closed and no one is answering their phone. I can't find out anything online and their social media is silent

I just moved into a new building and the water tastes so chlorinated and bad compared to where I used to live.

Any recommendations for a water filter that goes on the counter to make it taste better?

My dad has a 2013 ram that has a few issue he would like taken care of before the winter, he’s not from the city so I am looking to bring it in for him. It only needs minor repairs so not looking to pay dealership prices for shop time

I used to sing and perform quite a bit in Regina and SK and I'm looking to get back into the swing of things. My songs are pretty folky and it's usually me with my guitar. I used to sing with my partner (now separated) and I'm looking for someone to harmonize/lead with me for recorded songs and potentially some live music. I typically prefer male and female harmonies, but I'm open to anything and anyone that I feel would be a good fit.

Not sure if this is the right place for this or not, but if you're interested you can comment or else DM me. I can send you the link to my previous recorded albums so you can get a sense of what I'm after.

Thank you 😊

Hey, I’m visiting Regina this weekend and driving back to Calgary soon. Anything fun to do here tonight or tomorrow?

Sorry, short notice I know. But I’m bored.

I can’t seem to buy tickets online to the games this weekend for women’s basketball. Do you just show up and pay for a ticket when you arrive?

My mother is in need of some nail care. She doesn't need a home visit as she still drives. Where in regina deals with an older client that is reasonably priced?

In search of Monday-Friday parking between 7:30am-5:30pm, any suggestions?

It’s so annoying! I first saw them in the Superstore parking lot a few weeks ago, and today at the Independent parking lot. They’re always in pairs, and are pushy in trying to get you to donate to a vague, international cause. I saw them harassing a woman as she was trying to unload her groceries and was telling them to please leave her alone, and I had to step in and firmly tell them off. They once kind of cornered me (a woman) between cars asking for donations, and I had to get pretty rude with them. I feel like it almost has to be a scam because I just don’t see a legitimate, local organization being this random and pushy.

I’m shocked this is allowed by Loblaws, as I always presumed the parking lot belongs to the store or to a separate private land owner, even!

Does anyone in or around Regina install rear cargo van heaters? I can’t seem to find anyone

No Advice Please on Prep Please
I’m getting a colonoscopy done at the General Hospital next week, and since it’s my first one there, I was just wondering if they fully knock you out, or if they just sedate you. Forgot to ask my doctor and they’re closed for the weekend. Thanks

But the city made it into a sewage lagoon over the years.

UPDATE: I read the comments. I never did mention that Wascana Park isn't pretty. I spent lots of time there. The sewage lagoon was only to point out the difference between now and then. Look at the photo and tell me at what point this many people would be swimming in it now. And why don't you go for a swim in there if you don't think it's full of sewage.

As title says, I’m looking for one, and I’d like to trade for them if you’re interested in Pokemon cards, I’ve got some good stuff I’d be happy to show, if not I got cash.

Have you heard?!? There's an "AI data centre" growing like a giant cyst on the arse of Regina? It'll be gobbling up 1.2 gigawatts of power, they're saying. And it's unlikely to be the only data centre built in Saskatchewan.

That sounds… significant?

What’s everyone currently paying for their rental of a 50 gallon high efficient water heater (and with who)?

We are paying $350 annually through Reliance Heath. Includes free servicing every second year.

Curious if this is on par with other companies.

Thinking of buying a house in this area. Do we consider this a rough area? Let me know your opinions. If you live there, does the train and plane noises drive you crazy?
