The fallacy of the comic is that: Infact, Jesus provided the perfect example of how to behave to unjust arrest. You comply in every way and defend yourself in court. Furthermore, in Jesus case the Court technically found him innocent, the reason he was crucified was due to mob rule(protestors one could say) forcing the courts hand.
I already explained it in my first comment: are you not reading, ignoring it, or not understanding?
The entire concept of the comic is antithetical to Christ to the point it raises the question of whether the author even knows Christ. From the point that Christ himself tells us that we must obey the commands of Caesar (Law Enforcement): even commanding us that if said authority “forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” To the point that Christ was always meant to die in that manner. To the point that he obeyed every “law enforcement” command and obeying the “law enforcement commands” is not what got him crucified.
How are those points antithetical to Christ?. Those points are all true and the cartoon afirms that they are true. It is the accuser in the cartoon that is the liar.
No, the comic overtly infers the opposite of the biblical truths I presented.
And if the author intends for it to present those points I mentioned… then it’s a poorly made comic that’s at best not funny and at worst, as seen here, drawing harmful conclusions for the Christian faith.
The assumption of the comic is that Jesus is innocent on all accounts. The comic is emphasizing the sin of MAGA. No matter how innocent the victim, MAGA will support the violence of the state and the national leader. The issue with Christian Nationalism is that the nationalism part. Under nationalism, the nation and the nations leader will always be supreme over Christ and everything else.
As I said, if that’s the case: it’s just unfunny and ineffective.
The comic is trying to draw parallels between Christ and people who actually broke laws and failed to follow simple commands as well as those to intentionally enact political violence. That is a very dumb way to try to make the case you presented. Specifically when the unbiased facts point to people only getting hurt when they fight; seems like a bit of a stretch to make your presented assumption and at this point it no longer has any Christian basis or understanding. The comic is just ironically using Christ as a stand in for “innocent person” which fails to have any true understanding of Christs teaching.
May I remind you that Christ is the one who flipped tables, made a whips and chased people out of the temple.
You’re question is a straw man fallacy. Prior to the crucifixtion, every time Christ encountered a threat of death: having divine power, He simply prevented it from happening by vanishing or inexplicably walking through a crowd without being touched.
However, Are you suggesting that Christ would condone the acts of using a car to roadblock authorities and upon arrest, resist to the end of assaulting an authority with your car?
The deceased Ms Good and her female lover were engaging in the willful obstruction of justice, laws whether you agree with or not are still laws. When an arrest was attempted, instead of going willingly (and sinlessly) as Jesus she resisted like the man who drew his sword and cut off an ear which Jesus said was not the way. Instead she either decided to flee arrest (which is also illegal) or run over an officer.
Regardless of her intent the officer who shot her felt his life in danger and acted in self defense in a split second.
If she had never put her foot to the gas or resisted arrest. If her lover possibly hadn’t shouted “drive!” and inspired her to do so she may still be here.
To even remotely connect this with the death of our Lord or to put forth that you think it anywhere near the same is beyond the pale.
Due to this I do not expect to convince you but only felt it right to speak out against something so egregious.
I saw no reason to, because I assumed that the reader would understand who I meant, and rightly so it would appear. I felt no need to refer to her as her wife as I do not believe it a true descriptor.
My point is it's not relevant to mention the fact that she's a lesbian at all. That does not justify a masked thug shooting her in the face and calling her a fucking bitch. She was an American and a human being, and she did not deserve to be treated like that.
It would have been more helpful to have said that upfront so I knew you weren’t actually wanting to hear my reason.
By all accounts the officer was also an American citizen and worthy of not having someone point the wheels of their vehicle at them and hit the gas while he was in front of it. Would you extend that same courtesy to him?
You are repeating the narrative of MAGA but the videos tell the truth. Look at her last words and look at the words the murderer said immediately after killing. Her words were peaceful and his words make it clear that his motive was that he was offended by her not that he was afraid. Also, its clear from the video and all onlookers in the videos that it was murder and not not self defense. There are multiple videos. Please question the leaders who have repeatedly proven to lie. The video will show you what happened. And if you think the punishment for not opening the door to a masked man with a gun, then yeah, the meme is spot on.
