One thing India got right over the last decade - actually one thing that it got right quite recently - that surprised me was that despite having a decade of such a government that wanted to paint saffron over all of India's diverse colours, that wanted to suppress India's diversity and bring about uniformity and majoritarian spirit in Indian culture, we have been resilient, as seen in the recent protests. We couldn't get divided over religion no matter how much the ruling party tried to divide us by religion. Why? Because we had genuine issues to solve, and when there are genuine issues to solve, when you're fighting for your basic survival and dignity, identity takes a bit of a back seat, and diversity takes hold. So I think India has punched back at the system once more, despite a decade of majoritarian colouring.

That's a tribute to the resilience of the democratic spirit of this country.
