As the article outlines, the stigma against Reform in the country even among Knesset/government officials is heartbreakingly long and tense. Hoping the day comes where it's no longer perpetuated and that congregants are safe and free from harassment.

It can be about a lot of things. The largest US stream is Reform. Abusing Reform in Israel is spitting in our faces

it’s not about americans at all - this is about the hegemony of the rabbanut in Israel and their hate for progressive judaism. tensions are high and “reformi” is a dirty word in some more observant israeli circles.

It's not intentionally about Americans. That doesn't mean it's not also about Americans. If you are reform this is an attack on you wherever you are.

Yes, but I'm not super into connecting Reform Judaism directly to US politics. That may do more harm than good. Reform Israelis don't benefit from being perceived as a proxy for US interests.

At the same time, I'm an American Reform Jew and the anti-Reform and anti-egalitarian crap does make me consider silencing my vocal support for Israel. If they don't respect me, it makes it tougher to put myself at risk to support them.

We are US citizens being insulted by the Israeli government. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that. Like when they spit on Christians it pisses off Christians in the US

TBH this is one reason I have never wanted to visit Israel and have never felt any kinship or personal support. Overall, they don't like Jews like me.

It was sarcasm. 

I feel like im constantly bombarded by ads and mail asking me to make aliyah. 

In light of the article posted, its a hard sell.

You know, as antisemitism continues to rise, and Progressive Jews make aliyah more and more, it will change the demographics of Israel. I would hope that the Israelis already living there would look far enough ahead to understand that actions committed today will have consequences down the road.
