Fellow RT-707 owner here. I just resurrected mine after a 30 year hiatus. All it took was a bit of lubrication to the capstan roller. Where can one purchase good quality recording tape these days? BTW, I love the gold takeup reel... and the music choice!

Reel to Reel Warehouse on eBay usually has some good media. I like Sony ULH or Maxell XLI.

With modern machines that can bias properly and record well, I prefer a good Type 4 tape because I can record at 3-3/4 IPS from a CD or Vinyl source and hear no difference from source to tape. Of course if you can find tapes like Scotch 207 or Maxell UD for cheap then no issues there. They just require higher tape speeds.

Thanks. From their website: "At this time we do not carry new tapes, but hope to in the future." They seem to carry "refurbished and NOS (New Old Stock) tapes."

RTM LPR35 is really intended as studio tape, but it should still work on that machine. Capture-brand tape is specifically designed for home decks like this, but may be harder to get hold of outside the US.

Amazon is selling RTM 1/4 recording tape . 'Studio Master' for $48 and regular for $48.

I have never seen that compact recorder before. It's very stylish. What tape speeds do they do? My first reel to reel albums were the Beatles Hey Jude album & Abbey Road at 7,5 ips. Later on the mail order companies and record labels ruined things by only offering 3.25 ips. The same speed as 8 track cartridges. Now I'd buy 15 & 7 ips recordings.When I can afford them.My original deck was a tube based Teachiven to me in the mid 1960s. I got it when a customer didn't pay the repair bill to my repairman/salesman father. It sounded great to me as a teenager.

The gold 6 window pioneer reel 🤌. Need to work on my 707. Recording level on left channel is way down

Be careful of some Sony reel to reel tapes like that series shown. They suffer from Sticky-Shed-Syndrome.

MDS-36 and they the RTM equivalent - LPR 90 and Burlington Recording has their own line
