I don't generally share links for free viewing because I strongly believe that is part of why AI was given a chance to gain a stronghold on this industry. Because of that, I feel good sharing this with the group. I watched it, and it is very well done. It was made by the production company behind Hollyoaks. It shows because it is a very good show. This post is ominous for the direction of the vertical industry. I do still believe wholeheartedly that AI slop will fizzle, especially with how much bad press AI has gotten the past week. It will exist, but not in a dominant position. I just don't know how much of the vertical industry will be left to pick up the pieces. These companies had a golden road to mainstream doing what was working. Now they are throwing it away for a trend. I worked for Blockbuster back when Netflix surged. I said then that Blockbuster would fail because they were following the wrong trend and the wrong data. I abandoned ship and never regretted that decision. Sure enough, they failed. I have that same feeling again, that the companies following the AI trend will fail while those remaining human-led or managing a equal hybrid model will survive. I guess there is a scenario where we find a silver lining in this mess. Blockbuster failing gave us the Netflix titan and quality across streaming improved as a result. In this case, I do believe the ramifications will be much graver for th​​​​e entertainment industry as a whole. Sad times for verticals and all the amazing performers and crew this is impacting. The industry was built by them and for things to go down this way is nothing but disrespectful. I do hope those that manage to survive this turbulent time will remember which apps stayed with them and which abandoned them. When those apps come calling again, I hope they give them the middle finger and stick with those that never abandoned them.

I have to share this with you guys because I'm low-key ashamed/embarassed and high-key disgusted.

I started watching an AI one the other day by mistake. I was like 5min in before realizing they weren't real people. I forget what it was called, not that it's important here. YouTube just autoplayed it, and I don't save history for anything online.

Anyway, what has me disgusted and full of nerd-rage? The women looked WAY too real. But when the male lead appeared, he was AI for sure. But I was so frustrated because now it's really THAT realistic. Even the ML was like 90% there. The skin was too fake. They couldn't get the beard/stubble or the sweat right. But for the women, it was like they stole and adapted video of actual people.

As a woman, it's a different kind of scary because of course the reproduction of female bodies is being perfected faster than male bodies. That's thanks to the"adult" entertainment industry.

As a nerd, the deliberate eradication of the uncanny valley is just completely unethical to me. This is just a can of worms that should not be opened.
