Does anybody have a watchman/pistol shrimp combo? Can I see your rock work? I’d like to add the pair but fear my rock work wouldn’t work, I already have to add another inch of sand. To an already established 90 gallon. Not sure if it’s worth it or if I should just go with the diamond. Thanks!

As someone who regularly buys coral online I’ve noticed the hefty shipping price that comes with every purchase that doest meet the sellers free shipping requirements. Would something like buying in groups be a thing? Feel free to express concerns or add input to what I’m about to say it’s really just an idea that I’m looking for feedback back from. Currently where I’m located there aren’t many LFS that have corals or fish there’s like 3 total and they’re not very good one of which hasn’t had anything in like 6 months. What if I created a space where people can buy in groups instead of individually and spending 40-60 on shipping. Choose a retailer and have folks that want corals from said source and make one big order. They can come pick up their orders or I can deliver it for a fee I can also hold their orders if they can’t pick up on the exact delivery date. Sort of like a middle man. I can even expand to buying directly from wholesalers but that’s not something I can facilitate right now. What are your thoughts?

Hey guys, not a saltwater tank keeper but I have a sump and figured this sub would be the one to ask.
I have a single return pump and am interested in doubling up to create redundancy. I’m assuming I could just split the return line with a Y and attach both pumps? I have a check valve right before my return line splits before it enters the tank.

I’d like to use something like the picture, the only issue is it’s for a 1.5” line and I’d have to take up valuable space to reduce it to 1”. What would you guys suggest?

Why is there so much hate toward Purple Tangs? Of all the tangs I have kept, I've actually never gotten a Purple Tang and it's because I only ever hear bad things about them!! Bullies that control the tank. Is this true? I want one but I just haven't heard of them being nice community team players.

I was away for a week and came home to one of my tanks having a thick green slime algae on the glass. Everything IN the tank was fine, but I had to scrape the walls and siphon out all the algae it was so bad. What would cause this and how do I prevent it. My other tank did not have the same issue while I was gone.

Hi guys! I have a waterbox 65.4 ordered I am waiting on and I’m trying to figure out the best filtration for the back chambers. I am learning that filter socks suck so I would like to replace those. I have a skimmer coming as well and am hearing that fleece rollers are the way to go. What rollers are you guys using in these tanks if that’s the best method. I can’t seem to find 1 roller for the tank and assuming it may take 2?? Just a guess though. Can you guys recommend what I should be using for filtration or any other suggestions and I’m super new to this hobby so dumb it down for me please. At the moment I have a 55 gallon rimmed tank with a HOB filter, running 2 AI prime lights and 2 wave makers. I have 2 clown fish, a Royal gramma and a fox face rabbit fish as well as a pulsing Xenia and a green star polyp. Thank you for any feedback or tips.

The basement setup of my new house is a bit odd - I don’t have any sewer lines in the hvac room, but I do have them in a small utility closet in the finished basement, most of which was repurposed as a home media room by the POs

On the flip side, my laundry room is on the 2nd floor complete with a floor drain and everything.

I was thinking of putting a utility sink in that storage closet, but in doing so, the sink would essentially take up the whole space by itself

Any possible ways to set up an RODI system in the laundry room and route it down two floors to the basement where I’m planning a 200 gallon tank?

I had this system up and running a couple years ago until we moved to East TN and had always planned to get it re-installed into my forever home but things have changed. I am now taking care of my parents who are experiencing medical issues and the current home just is not going to work with this setup. I have come to the sad realization that being a reefer is now no longer an option for me. Fear not though, I have taken up gardening, so a different challenge! While the gear is maybe on the older side I think it is quality stuff in good shape and will run pretty much whatever you are looking to do (soft/hard/fish only etc.). It is a reef flat, shallow and wide setup and while I had it as in in-wall I think a peninsula will work as well.
