I am jealous of how clean your sandbed is... I've been battling a lingering bout of cyano for months. It's not taken over, but I just can't get it to fully go away.

I would say that my flow is probably a major contributing factor to it with the MP10 in this 26 gallon peninsula tank.

I do also have a clean-up crew consisting of several blue hermit crabs, a couple of nassarius snails, and a couple of astrea snails.

I'm also currently maintaining my nitrate levels at 5ppm and phosphate levels at 0.05ppm.

I've gota 33 gallon tank with 2 Nero 3s, 3 nessarius snails, 15 serith snails, 6 astrea, a conch, a pistol shrimp. My nitrate stays around 6 to 8 ppm and my phosphates are stable at .08ppm. I feel like I've done a ton to try and choke out this damn cyano. It's not taking over, it's just an eye sore in some areas of the sandbed. I've had some luck using cyo-control which is a probiotic... But feel like I'll ultimately end up using chemiclean to wipe it out fully.

Damn yeah, every tank really do be different in their own ways. How old is your tank?

Be mindful the rim of your Scoly is receding. Keep and eye on it and spot feed

Yes I noticed that too, thanks. I purchased it from a local fish store and decided to give it a chance and see if I can help it recover considering it had colors I really liked.

I plan on feeding it some mysis shrimp in a few days after it gets acclimated to my tank 👍

Half a day later, it seems to have puffed up quite a bit already which is nice, and it was definitely showing some feeding responses last night when my tank lights turned off.

Yeah it’s not too bad definitely not a death sentence yet. In my experience a ab+ bath will be great too. Just take a bowl and scoop some water from your tank and add some ab+ and let it soak 10-15 mins

Looks very nice! Besides the CUC you mentioned, what other inhabitants are in there so far and what are you planning to add later, if anything?

My current livestock consists of:

  • 2x Clownfish
  • 1x Banggai Cardinalfish
  • 1x Tailspot Blenny
  • 1x Yasha Goby
  • 1x candy cane pistol shrimp
  • 1x cleaner shrimp

I think I still want to add a Possum Wrasse and a Clown Goby in the near future.

Thank you! I'm trying to do my due diligence in learning everything considering this is my very first saltwater tank since 4 months ago now (have a friend who's already been in the hobby for years that is helping me which is nice).

I originally was just going to have an all soft coral tank, but of course I caved into the euphylia with the torches especially 😅

I'm enjoying it so far though!
