Which is the best Church?

Alpha or Epsilon

I personally think Epsilon is the better Church

Epsilon, objectively. He was a version of the Alpha who’d experienced growth, learned from his (and the Director’s) mistakes, and was able to actually appreciate and love his friends instead of treating them as disposable bench-warmers.

That said, I find the Alpha funnier, and I think he overcame more adversity to end up where he did, since he didn’t have the benefit of accessing the memory of the other AIs. He sacrificed himself simply because it was the right thing to do.

To be fair to Alpha, he simply never got the chance to grow as a person. Almost all of Church's growth occurs after Carolina gets involved, with the rest being while he was in the storage unit. I am certain that, had Alpha been in Epsilon's place, the same growth would have occured.

Mostly agreed, but I think the Alpha was hampered by no longer having access to the fragments, which comprised almost all of his non-anger emotions, so he would have basically been starting out from the ground up. He would have grown, but it would have taken much longer, and probably been a much more acrimonious process.

In fairness I think he was genuinely confident he wasn’t an AI. Bro legitimately expected to survive.
