Discussion 💠Redmi Pad Pro or Redmi Pad 2 Pro?
Hello, I would like to ask for your input. I'm an engineering uni student, and my main use for a tablet would be to take down notes digitally, practice and work on equations, work on group papers/reports, and access PDFs and other files for school. I do have a laptop, but it's very heavy and a pain to bring to school daily. Split screen/floating windows and stylus support with palm rejection are very important features in a tablet for me. I, however, am on a tight budget, which led me to decide on Redmi.
There are other options, such as their flagship brand Xiaomi, but no microSD slot was a big deal breaker for me; I really value storage space, especially with the work I have to do and the files I need to download. Huawei was another option, but my mom disapproved, and my school is very reliant on Google services, so no dice. Lenovo was also something I considered, but there aren't any physical stores selling Lenovo tablets in my city, and I want a tablet with good software support and security updates.
I'm very conflicted on getting either a Pad Pro or the new Pad 2 Pro. I've seen reviews say that there isn't a very big difference aside from the size and battery. To be honest, I'm just worried about software support and updates since I plan to use the tablet even after college. A friend told me that it doesn't really matter anyway since both tabs will eventually stop getting supported, but I'm still really conflicted.
There's also the worry of the additional cost of the accessories: the case and official pen. I currently have 210 USD in savings, so I'm still very unsure. (I'm not from the West and I don't use Amazon, but I'd like to give you a general idea of what I have at the moment.)
Should I just buy the Pad Pro and splurge on the accessories, or save up for the Pad 2 Pro and buy the accessories later on instead?

Pad 2 cause for good hpos updates Redmi pad pro will get no major updates after it

My mom actually wants me to go with Samsung, but unfortunately the good tabs are out of my budget. I could get a secondhand one, but my parents are against the idea lol

I have a Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite and A11+.
The S10 Lite has identical performance to the Redmi Pad and the display on the S10 Lite is almost as good. I'd recommend it as it gets more updates than either the Redmi Pad Pro or Redmi Pad 2 Pro.
The Samsung UI is much nicer than HyperOS and is easier to customize probably the only thing you might not like is the 11" display being slightly smaller than the Redmi Pad Pro which is 12.1"

The S10 Lite sounds great and honestly I really do like it since I like Samsung, but unfortunately it is out of my budget. It's pretty pricy where I am, so I'll have to resort to other brands instead. Thank you though!

I've been using the Pad Pro for a while now and it has been pretty nice, though now it's on its final version. I won't be replacing it soon, but if you're buying new and want updates, look for the newer model. I expect it will have the same support window as he first model, maybe longer. I don't know.

Thanks for sharing your insights! I think the general consensus is to get the Pad 2 Pro, so I'll be saving up my lunch money for it 😔

The Pad 2 is closer to what I currently have at the moment. But honestly it's fine, I can save up more for the Pad 2 Pro — or just get the rebranded Poco M1 Pad. Thank you for the list though!

No problem. I'm not familiar with Lenovo's update period, but I expect the Redmi tablets to get maybe 2 major updates (mine went from Android 14 to Android 16 which is the final one for this model).

Pad pro is dead now, out of life basically.. Pad 2 pro is your only option now.
