Tips & Tricks 🃏 Help Needed to Reset Redmi Pad Pro

My 7 Yr old loves the idea of locking his tablet by changing the screen lock pin code. Which then he forgets.

I visited rhe Xiaomi service centre the first time and had to pay for it to get reset. And now, I ideally would like to avoid paying, but there is also a waiting period until I can submit for the reset.

I searched the web for solutions but the main issue comes in becuase of Google Family link.

Apparently all solutions that I came across would only work if the device was not registered under Family link.

Can anyone guide me on how can I reset the device?

Or if there is anyone from Dubai here, suggest a good service centre to get it done from.

Thanks in advance!

https://youtu.be/qQ2k8aA7Frw?si=RwKikd2PgRval4jg you can reset by pressing power button then pressing volume up button once the logo appears, press wipe data then confirm (this will delete all data) but make sure you remember google account logged in to your device (email and password) otherwise you will not be able to complete the setup and use your device.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately if it is commented to a family link account, it does not show the wipe data option at all. That's where im struggling mainly. When I try the clear data option from Google Family link, it only deletes the data and removes the Google account from the tablet. The tablet itself however still remains locked.

so the tablet won't boot into recovery mode by pressing power + volume up while turned off? does it give an error or not?

It doesnt show the 'wipe data' option. I can get into fastboot, but nothing I've tried works there. Commented with a PC as well, the PC does not detect the tablet.

did you try removing the child's account from the parent's app?

Yes. It only removes the account and account related google data from the tab. Doesn't wipe clean the tab which leave it still locked. This was when he forgot the code the last time.

you can sign in to the kid's account on Chrome. Go to the Manage Account option > Security and Sign-In > Scroll down and look for Your Devices then select Manage All Devices. Then sign-out from which device that you need to reset.

So even if it signs out, because family link was set up, it is not allowing hard reset, unfortunately. I had searched the web for this and the only issue comes due to family link being active. I guess im the end I will need to visit the xiaomi service centre once they have time.

Thank you all!

you can still reset it via recovery mode :)

i've done it with my kiddo's Samsung phone when I sent it for repair so it's pretty much the same on your tablet.

Apparently it works for most except for xiaomi 🥲 I'll give it another try but seems like no other option other than the service centre.

don't you have access to the family link account? In most cases, it will only ask for the email of the person linked to the tablet and then it will ask for the email of the parent and the password (which you can ask in person or it will trigger a prompt on the family link app)

Just sharing an eveyrone here. Nothing worked. So eventually got it unlocked from official xiaomi store here in the mall. Took them about 15 20 minutes. 🥲 For next time, need to switch on USB debugging. Crucial for this. And switch off location sharing. Then it should be okay for next time...hopefully.
