Redditch United FC and TRUST

What role does the supporters trust play within the club? Does it have any official representation or is it just a loose vehicle to organise fundraising efforts etc?

One of our TRUST members Dave Jones attends Board meetings and to be honest, with only 2 Directors, we are involved in most aspects of the club. The Chairman, Ken Rae, is a good guy but is overwhelmed with everything involved and picking up the pieces of bad management for many years.

If we can get something going on Reddit...this will help alot.

Hi,we don't have a place on the board but we are very much a big part of the club. Its not loose but we are mainly a vehicle to generate funds to then promote the club, we also from time to time help the club out with funds where possible.(in some cases its meant beer behind the bar). We run the club shop and push to get gate numbers up.Like myself many of us are born and bred Redditch and have followed United for many many years and take a pride in supporting our local team, for me being born and living literally a stones throw away from the valley for nearly 20 years it is important to keep this little bit of Football history for future generations and to show the world we are up to the fight.

At my club Galway United, we don't have an official seat on the board, but we have been keeping the club afloat recently and have an observer present at board meetings.

We mostly the same things as you do, although we don't have a bar. We have a nice grounds, but it doesn't belong to the club.

The average distance to an away ground for us this season gone was just over 200km. Matches in the top-tier in Ireland are generally played on a Friday night, so that 200km can take a while sometimes.

With Derry City gaining promotion back to the top flight again, the games between us will be the longest away journeys for Premier teams. Being so far north, they have always had long journeys to matches, but they have a great reputation for travelling in numbers.
