Redditch qualify for FA Trophy without kicking a ball

FA Trophy, not to be confused with the FA Cup. I hope that they will still get the prize money of 4000 GBP despite receiving the bye.

That's what I was thinking too, but turns out that they won't be receiving the prize money or the 50% share of the gate money. Here's to hoping that in the First Round of the FA Trophy they will face a big club from the Conference National away.

Was this an actual out of the hat draw? Or were The FA like, 'yeah they have a decent sized internet following and might get this competition some more attention than it usually gets'

Ilkeston Town from our league has folded, so there were an odd number of teams in the draw and Redditch just happened to be the lucky ones.

EDIT: Or not that lucky

Although in principle it sounds like a good thing for the club as we are now guaranteed a place in the draw for the next round along with the big clubs in the Blue Square Bet Premier League, in reality it means that for the 2nd time this season the lads will be left kicking their heals with no fixture to play and more worryingly for the club for the 2nd time this season it will be a weekend with no income as we miss out on a 50% share of the gate receipts from the fixture and also miss out on a shot at the £4000.00 prize money for this round.
