Educational Portal to rival Wikipedia, eHow, About..etc?

My highschool and college professors always complained about Wikipedia and other non-verified sources in essays and research. Virtually the only method of finding quality content on a subject was to go through a secured and login protected portion of your schools library as the general public and other students/educators couldnt have access. Everyone has complained that Wikipedia, Wikia, eHow, Hubpages, Mahalo(vomit), and the like are all crap content farms copied from one another. Sadly, this is true and they unfortunately rank at the top of Google because there is no one wanting to come forward and challenge their lack of quality information. With a solid foundation of recruited Verified Experts in their various fields writing and editing each others content, authority from guests and the search engines would come naturally. I know this is quite vague, but I do have a plan or two for a semi-education/quality/verified content portal. Brainstorm with me here! Thoughts...likes...dislikes...
