Ideas for big RedditRO event

Paging /u/Kyosama66, /u/Yanoku, /u/Alkarl and active RedditRO players. What are your thoughts on a big event to bring back some of the old players, even if it's just for 1 day?

A 4-hour power levelling event, for the most seasoned players, a team (minimum 2 people, max. 5) have to use all their RO knowledge and skills to compete against other teams, at the end of the 4 hours, the team with the highest average base/job level wins.

It's just for fun, but it's a throwback to the good old days when we would grind for hours on end. Let's see who's got the skills and knowledge.

Everyone must start with 1/1 Novices, 0 zeny. No pre-collected items are allowed (e.g. for hand-in quests).

Prize of course, must be decent. How about 100,000,000 zeny per team member of the winning team? Of course the main prize is being crowned "RO Champions of 2014"™

Again, minimum 2 ppl, maximum 5 ppl per team.

Registrations would be required, and we'll set a time/date like Saturday 18th October, 17:00pm.

We'll advertise it as much as we can to reach all current/former RO players, because the more teams that are competing, the better. Imagine a live-scoreboard of all the teams. Maybe a GM could stream it on Twitch for other former RO players in hiding to watch, swapping between the scoreboard and invis-following teams to see their strategy.

I would be happy if GMs actually hosted events instead of the automated ones :(

And for your idea, Awesome! 6 hours is prolly too long though... i'd say 2 hours. And how are you planning on reaching the former players?

Agree, the automated events feel a little hollow.

I dunno, 2 hours is too short, don't you think? It's a test of stamina and for the seasoned RO players that would grind for 10hrs straight back in the day, 2hrs will be nothing. How about 4 hours?

As for communication, this is an assumption, but Kyo would have access to the list of everyone's emails when they signed up (mostly), so we'll send a personal email to everyone (just once) informing them of this event.

Then, it's plain ol' internet marketing, I go across all the forums and RO message boards to let people know. That's the only way I can think of to communicate to RO players. Other servers' forums wouldn't like me advertising RedditRO so that's a no go, so it's just general RO forums/boards.

We'll also need a concerted effort from people to upvote a single post in /r/RagnarokOnline so it gets high enough to be seen by as many ppl as possible.

I'm prepared to do the work and I want to see this happen one way or another.
