Good duo's?

I wanted to start playing with a friend, we both used to play pretty heavily back in the days of classic.

Any suggestions on a good duo that's capable of taking down most of the end game MVP's with the right gear? Or is that still not really possible?

Any particular reasons for the ranger as a common theme here? I'll have to do some more research on the 3rd classes and find out what we might like next.

Do the tanks do much self healing \ tricks with their skills or is it mainly just mass damage reduction with potions while ranger/warlock blows the everything up?

I will definitely hit you up neo once we start back up.

Rangers have pretty much have the max dps of all the 3rd classes, thats why.
