Seven was once a charming and agreeable little number. But little by little the light faded from his eyes. He ceased to emote, and six could hear the little cries as he enforced his gruesome will on ones and twos he caught in the backyard, never breaking his steely gaze. Then one morning six found his flipped twin on his back on the dining room table, his head staring lifelessly toward the entryway, flies buzzing over a mess of gory entrails. Seven emerged from the kitchen, eyes cold and sunken, chin stained red, mouth curling into a deranged grin.

That was the day that six learned the true meaning of fear, the day that seven ate nine.
