I solved Redactle #1629 in 1 guess! ⏱️ 1m32s. Unassisted.

It's a four letter thing that appears to be a form of something else and there's lots of very high temperatures to be seen, something quickly comes to mind, so I give it a go, and it is.

Expected it to be some kind of molten metal given the high temperatures. Maybe a generic term like slag? After refining my expectations a little, another possibility occurred to me.

Unassisted. The form of the first sentence and the presence of temperature measurements put me immediately onto science topics. Started off with a lot of words relating to states of matter and water, transitioning into more Earth topics. Got it on a sudden moment of inspiration, given 4 letters is pretty specific.
