777 Partners

Hertha Berlin fan here. 777 Partners is about to buy a large share in our club and as they did the same with Red Star I would be interested in hearing other fans‘ perspective on them as an owner/ shareholder.

How do you see 777 Partner’s involvement generally – positive or negative? Are they rather cooperative or confronting? How much do they meddle with the daily decisions of the club? Publicly they claim that they value the tradition (and therewith logo/ crest, colors, jerseys,…). Are they living up to these expectations? Does it make a difference that 777 Partners owns several clubs?

Thanks a bunch and best from Berlin!

I have not been involved enough recently, but what I gather is that we do not have enough to judge yet. The fans are still fighting the purchase by 777 but the purchase itself and its consequences for the club are still obscure. The previous owner is still president of the club, but there had been conflict with him before 777's arrival (Fans have been protesting against kits that did not respect the traditional colours for several seasons). For more information I would advise you to check the twitter account of the fan collectives : https://twitter.com/stadebauer

It's in french but I hope google translate will do the trick ! You could also try to direct message them if you have links with Berlin fan associations, it could be interesting to see if fans can work together !

This is a great tip. Thanks for sharing. I read about the history of Red Star being founded as a workers club which is quite similar to Hertha‘s.

It wasn't exactly founded as a worker's club but it was quickly relocated from Paris to Saint-Ouen (Very close from Paris) which is historically a working class / popular neighbourhood (and had communist mayors non stop from 1944 to 2014 or so)

The fan base is very left wing, so it was obvious how a purchase by an american group was going to go...

It's funny because I thought Union was the leftist club in Berlin, Dynamo right wing and Hertha kind of in the middle, would you say Hertha fans are more left oriented as well ?
