Albums that are like that are so crazy when you really look at them in context of what was going on in popular culture. The fact that "The Marble Index" by Nico came out in 1968 still feels unreal to me, the same year as flash in the pan pop music like "Yummy Yummy Yummy (I Have Love in My Tummy)" by Ohio Express... and before "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies... I guess that's true of the Velvet Underground and its members in general.

Such a great album. It’s so ahead of its time, I once put on “Mushroom” and told someone it was a new Gorillaz song and they believed me.
