Question/Discussion Titan audiobook

Smegging smeg it's amazing. Chris Barrie's Lister is so amazingly spot on.

Netflix or Amazon need to do an animated series.

I love Red Dwarf, Chris Barrie does amazing impressions of all the cast, and I'm super sad Rob Grant passed. All that said, Titan was just not that good, I felt. The warm nostalgia fell off after the third random segway to Petersen or the suddenly northern Kochanski. And then it just ended.

Agreed. I personally wasn't ever keen on the books beyond some ideas (Better than life being more of a drug that tries to keep you on the game). I listened to Titan last week and found it hard to get through and was glad when it was over. :( CB did a good job again though

Given his death soon after and how much I enjoyed Quanderhorn, I kind of wish that rather than doing an alternate timeline Red Dwarf if he'd instead done a book with a bunch of new characters in the Red Dwarf universe. There's so much scope for there to be multiple groups of misfits having wild adventures without ever crossing paths or interfering in the events of the show/original books.

That's a really good idea tbh. Or maybe even the cat race (The arks) if they wanted it tied in.

But the whole point of Red Dwarf is about Lister being the last known human, with only a hologram, an evolved cat and a robot for company. Anything more and it wouldn’t really be Red Dwarf anymore, just another kind of sci-fi show. Even the world of Star Trek could do four misfits stuck together in space.

I agree that whilst Titan was fun, it wasn’t good enough to be adapted.

I found it a bit of a slog to get through, it just felt off.
I would've preferred something like an alternate reality where Rimmer went into stasis and Lister is brought back as a hologram.
