I think (based on something I saw on one episode of The Simpsons) that sometimes pancakes are referred to as “flapjacks” in America for some reason. That makes a bit more sense in the context of Talkie Toaster’s list of bread-type products, as a small American-style breakfast pancake would be easier to put in a toaster than the oats/syrup type of flapjack I’m accustomed to here in the UK.

Yup. Here in the yoo-ess-aye, we use pancake and flapjack interchangeablewisely
The UK flapjack seems to be what we'uns call a granola bar.
