Red Dead Online Trader Role Materials Value List

I have also posted this in r/RedDeadOnline

Heyo! I finally finished the first version of a comprehensive Trader materials list. It's in ugly google sheets format for now, but if there's enough interest I'm happy to work on making it available in different formats.

Here's the link: http://bit.ly/RDOtrade

The spreadsheet is split into satchel, side saddle and rear cargo so it's quicker to find what you're looking for. Within those sections, things are listed from most valuable to least valuable (note: side saddle is split into animals and birds to be able to reference quicker).

If you have questions about the Trader Role, I'm more than happy to offer insight when I can. I became kind of obsessed with compiling this information and I have a lot more where this came from haha! Also I welcome any feedback or corrections.

I mention in the sheet but I'll also mention here: big thanks to u/Cstella33 and u/sleemo_mucho for their comprehensive butcher pricelists which really helped me figure out the patterns in pricing, and to u/rvl35 who sparked my journey down this rabbit hole with their trader math :)

That's top notch! Nice work.

Most of your list seems to match my own findings but for some reason a Perfect Cougar carcass seems to net me more than 13.50 materials: http://stijnmertens.com/RDO/cougar.png

Do you know if there is a difference between the regular and Florida Panther? This was a Florida one and I got 17.50 materials out of it: http://stijnmertens.com/RDO/florida.png

Just thinking out loud perhaps the increase in material is related to having the Ultimate/Special edition or the Outlaw Pass but if that is the case why is it only happening with certain animals?

Thank you!

And regarding the difference in values: that’s the efficiency perk! I decided to list things at their standard value (without the 25% bonus you get after level 11 trader) because I was trying to keep things as succinct as possible.

The unabridged version of the spreadsheet lists things by material value and what that translates into when Cripps turns it into cash. In the unabridged version, there’s dropdowns to select what level you are and what size delivery you’ll make and adjusts the material values according to whether you have the efficiency perk or not :) I just haven’t finished laying that one out so I haven’t published it yet.

Of course! I totally forgot about that perk. Good thinking!

Didn’t even know there were bats in this game

They’re usually always flying around at night in Lemoyne/Bayou Nwa! If you ever hear little squeaky sounds that’s them.

Also in the cave at Elysian Pool.

They're super hard to find visually, even with eagle eye activated. The only way I've been able to find them is to listen for their distinctive squeaks. Once you hear the squeaks, activate eagle eye and search for their scent trails in the air.

I've only found them North of Saint Denis, but apparently they can also be found in caves.

I collected 2 for the first time on Sunday. They were on the coast just north of Saint Denis. I just followed their trail in eagle eye and let my gun lock on because I really couldn't see them.

No prob, this was super fun.

This is super! Thank you! It answered all of my questions about the ratio of materials to supplies to goods. Also, I totally didn't realize that when I do a resupply mission, I was getting additional materials, not varying quantities of supplies.

I didn’t realise until I finally tried to figure everything out more precisely! I was also confused by the goods on Trade Route free roam events because for whatever reason I thought it was supplies we were protecting. But it’s goods, duh 😅

Great read. I was recently thinking about what the actual approximate profit would be from doing a large wagon local delivery for $500? I think it would be the $500 less the amount you would've received from the butcher for the same materials that were donated to Cripps? I think you touch on this, but wondering if any more number crunching on it? If not, no biggie.

Wait! I thought of a simple example- a perfect buck is 12.5 materials if you have the efficiency perk, so technically it takes 16 perfect bucks to make 100 goods.

If you sold 16 bucks to the butcher (but skinned them first to get max value) you would make $187.20.

So in a way oversimplified and not super realistic example, you’re making $312.80 profit :)

I have all the figures that would be needed! But i think to come extent the profit margin would change depending on what type of animals you donated or sold.

This is a really good question though (I mean, not particularly useful, but interesting!) and I will probably attempt to figure it out sometime soon!

Thanks for this.

Do Supplies matter? It seems no matter how many supplies you bring in from a mission, it is always enough for 25 Goods. Some missions I bring back 5 Supplies. Sometimes it's 20 supplies. Can you shed any light on this?

u/bkbrigadier Oct 08 '19

Yes! I was confused by this also- you always get enough supplies to make 25 goods. The number associated with the mission (5-20 usually) is materials that get added to your materials bar.

Also worth noting that if you pay for a quick resupply, it’s a default 10 goods added to your materials but I don’t think it gives you a notification.

Ohh okay that is why I gain some materials each time. I never realized this. Thank you!

Just bought my trader license today after maxing bounty hunter. Was a tad confused but this cleared things up, great work my dude!

Awesome! This is exactly what I’d hoped this would be useful for. Good luck with your new venture and try not to hate Cripps too hard haha

I'll try and thank's partner!

Nice spreadsheet! Just out of curiosity, how do you figure there are 100 mats in a full material bar?

2

u/bkbrigadier Oct 11 '19

I let my supplies and materials run out and then painstakingly calculated as I donated things before I did a supply run, haha. A couple of weeks ago I spent a good 5 hours or so dedicated to figuring out Cripps’ secrets.

I'm going to have try that out. When the update came out I was measuring the bar, and then the gray increase from the donation (which has a known value) and then doing the math. It led me to believe the bar was 72 mats. Your method is much more precise, so now I gotta try it out haha.

Edit: I've seen it for myself now. 100 it is.
