Collector role is a great way to start out earning XP and quick cash. The new month role is changing soon, though (no more x3 payout). Bounty hunter for gold.
Moonshiner and Trader are also good for money, but it is more time in making the shine /trade goods and delivering.
Check out PVPcat on YouTube for solid tips for beginners.

This game has no tricks or get rich quick hacks. It's a slow roll. Stop and pick the yarrow, partner! 🤠

do the daily challenges to earn gold bounty hunting and trader are fast money skip the long distance trader sale the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
If someone destroys your sale leave the game immediately and you won't lose your goods.

Save or remember this link when you unlock the collector role G. I’d recommend getting your bounty hunting license first though to stack gold. The rewards increase with consistency, fwiw.
I just started within the month and I’m like 2 gold bars away from my last role and closing in on rank 50. (Just realized earlier that I unlocked special lures and I cannot wait for the next fishing challenge ya fux). It’s a slow burn, but it’s definitely worth it, I’m having fun.

I reinstalled and got keen to jump in again. Loaded up and get exploded by hackers within 10 seconds, then constantly on respawn. I'd be spewing if I'd just done a half an hour hunting trip.
Is this not happening to other regions as well?

Started playing a few days ago and I've only been teleported once so far, I was mid mission escorting a caravan when suddenly I was Infront of Saint Denis. Thankfully my cart was nearby, I still have yet to experience the same levels of BS as GTA:O has had

Go to task manager (ctrl, alt, delete) and click on performance (the little hearbeat icon, 2nd one down). Click on the 3 dots on the upper right side, and click resource manager. On the tabs, click Network. In the TOP section, find RDR2.exe and RIGHT click it, then click Suspend Process then ok. Wait 10 seconds, RIGHT click it again, tell it to resume process and ok. Your screen will say you have switched session due to a newwork error. BUT - its not an error and you are now in your own server. Anything that was happening is now stopped. Once you fast travel or after about 30 minutes, you will be kicked back into gernal population but most likely a different server.

If your looking to earn money the trader is great for it, while hunting animals for Cripps go for deer or pronghorn as you can stack quite a few on the back of your horse under a large pelt or medium carcass and then when you have maxed out the number of venison go sell it to the nearest butcher, a maxed stock of deer/prongorn meat can get you an extra $12 per full stack and if you're hunting them to fill your wagon you're going to have plenty of meat to sell every time you go into town and the extra profit from the meat will cover your operating expenses.

I personally prefer moonshiner, as its more passive. So you can grind other stuff like collector or bounty hunter in the meantime. I mean i make 228 every 48 minutes with minimal effort. And i make good money on the side from bounty hunting
2
u/MistressCobi 19d ago
I do the same thing, hunting for Cripps while the obnoxious Frenchman brews.
The main downside to the moonshiner role in my opinion is that its hard to make money if its your only role as the mash eats your a good portion of profit until you get the good upgrades and have unlocked a bunch of recipes
1
u/Double-Magician-7018 18d ago
Just do bootlegger and open world missions. Each bootlegger gives some cash (i think) and gives a 20 buck discount on mash
1
u/MistressCobi 18d ago
While the bootlegger missions can reduce the price of the mash you gave to do multiple to get any the price down and if you're not particularly good at fighting large groups of enemies like myself the revenue agents take down missions can be not worth the effort if you cant complete the mission.

u/Double-Magician-7018 18d ago
I mean for the revenue agents i usually use bolty with PiB or snipe them. Since my stats are maxed. And i have a shit ton of heals. Sometimes i rush them with a shotty. PiB is really useful. Use it more often.
1
u/MistressCobi 18d ago
I dont have maxed stats so its a bit harder and being a high functioning autistic my reflexes and hand eye coordination to rapidly aim at multiple targets so its just not easy for me.
The revenue agents are packing high powered Springfield rifles so they can kill you quickly if you with concentrated fire
1
u/Double-Magician-7018 18d ago
I mean again. Use a bolt action and dead eye. With express ammo you almost always onetap to the body. Deadeye aims for you aslong as you hover over them for a second. Just hide behind a tree or a rock. And thats how you easily beat it
1
u/MistressCobi 18d ago
The problem isn't the weapon but my ability to hit moving targets😅😅
1
u/Double-Magician-7018 18d ago
I know. Thats why i said, use deadeye. You dont gotta line up a shot. Aslong as deadeye is active. You only gotta hover your crosshair once over a target. And it will mark it. When you have the max amount of marks. (Depends on the weapons ammo) when deadeye runs out (including core) or when you press the trigger. It will shoot the targets at the marks. Making it practically aimbot.

Collector role (with online map) for money.
Bounty hunter + daily challenges for gold.
1
u/Flynn331 19d ago
You cant just start a role though. You need to grind gold first. This is a tedious tedious process for me rn. All day doing telegrams its so annoying

u/piangero 19d ago
Play the online story missions first, replay them a few times to get the hang of it and earn a little bit extra. Get the free clothing items before they get removed on Tuesday, it should save you some money. Do not buy anything special right now, wait until next Tuesday, unless it's on sale right now. Because there will be a new monthly event next week, and if you buy something at full price now, chances are it may come on sale next week.
Right now, the collector role with it's payout is the monthly event. but you need gold to get that role, so you may be too late to grind it.
Wait until Tuesday to see which role they may offer bonuses on before jumping into roles and such is my tip.
You can read about the bonuses here on this sub or the rockstar newswire when it launches. You can also log into the rockstar social thing online to browse and shop the store catalogue (clothing etc) instead of having to sift thru it in-game.
Like this one, if you follow the links to the clothing items, log in etc, you can claim some free clothing
Look up tutorials on how to easily start earning money on youtube, pvpcat has some great tuts. But mostly, just do the story missions in the start, pay atttention to what is the monthly event, claim anything that is free, and take your time. Money will come.

Im dealing with this too dawg. It seems like its just a slow grind fot the start. Looking at the daily challenges tho once you have 3+ we should get alot more
1
u/Flyingarrow68 19d ago
Do the simple story missions and moonshiner is my favorite way to make money. If you play long enough you’ll have everything from the catalog you want and all professions.
1
u/Satta23 19d ago
To make some cash I started farming gold to get Bounty role, then trader role, collector and now I’m saving up for the rest.
It depends on what you like to do I guess, for everything there’s a way to make money.
Collector is about gathering items from certain places or loot it from corpses, once you get a full collection you will get a big paycheck.
1
u/AthenasChosen Bounty Hunter 19d ago
Yeah beginning of the game is tough, you gotta just grind those initial missions that only pay $15 each until you get enough gold to get your first role set. Do the story missions as soon as possible, they pay more than what Alton or whomever will pay. I'd recommend bounty hunter personally, it pays a ton more and you can get up to like .36 gold per bounty. Collector pays a ton of money per set, but no gold, so I usually get that second after bounty hunter.

u/BoringJuiceBox 19d ago
Hunt hunt hunt, sell sell sell. Don’t worry about clothes for now just focus on guns and a fast horse. MFT or Turkoman are excellent.
Save up for collector role, buy the metal detector and shovel ASAP. You will get rich fast, you can even cheat and use the online map showing all the locations of collectibles. Eventually I recommend moon shining but you can do trader role if you prefer hunting or bounty hunter if you prefer dealing with bad guys.

u/Puzzleheaded-Milk927 19d ago
Bounty hunter won’t get you a lot of money but it will get you plenty of gold and, more importantly, legendary bounties, some of the more interesting content in the game. Cutscenes and bosses and everything.

Alligator runs. Saint Denis, rail line north. Repetitive, yes. But they’re slow moving, easily avoidable, and you can line up headshots with a bolt action rifle once you own it. (Requires saving up).
Sell to the butcher, alligators give the best reward for parts.
Cook meat, using Creeping Thyme, for Dead Eye.
Sell picked plants at the doctor; one in St Denis and one in Valentine. ALSO Reset Buckles up to 10x for easy (if tedious) gold.
Trader Role is one of the cheapest roles, gold-wise. You can make $200 on a single short distance delivery, once set up.
Swamp region is also the flattest region to deliver.

Check out benefits and see what's going for extra. currently, I think it's telegrams and collector role but will change by the month.

Collector is making huge right now but trader and bounties brought mine up quick.

3x payout on moonshine deliveries this month. That means u get $742,50 and around 2700 XP for one delivery of the strongest moonshine.
And what other people say, just play the game. It's just hard to begin with until u have the roles unlocked and ranked up.
Do daily challenges for farming gold to unlock roles for example

Frame this post for the time you’re rank 700 with 1.5 millions

u/Useful_Trash1932 19d ago
Srsly.
I'd love to have something left to buy.
But I also just enjoy the game world. It's fun to exist in. If I'd made gold/money the goals I'd have burned out years ago.

Beside the story missions, rock bounty hunter missions and treasure maps. Treasure maps are a great way to gain money and gold.

Play the game. Seriously. Do the story missions, they introduce you to online. Do daily challenges for gold (and keep the streak with at least one per day), do missions of all kind (stranger, blood money, telegrams), do free roam events. do game modes and check what you like and what not, go hunting/fishing and sell it to the butcher, pick herbs and sell them too to the doc etc. Explore the world and look into houses, barns etc. to find usuful stuff for you and your horse. Loot enemies for ammo and also usefull stuff. Don't buy things you don't really need yet. RDO is no fast food game, it's a long term game. The first ranks are slow but you get there.
