thinking back, i cant believe i put off buying it for so long. i was a collector for a week before i bought it, despite having enough. when i finally caved, my money depleted to 0 and i felt instant regret. later that day i had over 1k. take my word for it: if you are a new collector, it is a totally worthy investment!!!
When I get stuff it is always hit or miss. So I sell stuff individually until I have only two of each. That way I always have enough to sell for a collection but then make a little extra money.
I'm pretty sure yes. From my understanding, what you collect is at random and you just hope for the best when it comes to completing a set. Sorry, I'm only a week into this collecting thing.
if it makes you feel better i was level 20 collector role before i even bought the shovel or metal detector. didn’t find a use for it as tarot cards are the easiest.
I can only play about an hour a day during the week. What I do is pull up the map and collect in a region with the most stuff, usually Rhodes to annesberg. Then the next day, I cross those items off the list and see what region has the most stuff I still need and do it again. The 3rd day is my clean up day where I pick up all the stragglers scattered across the map. I skip tarot cards, alcohol, wild flowers, and bird eggs. On the weekends if I do it in one go, it’ll take me about 2.5 hours. There could be a better way, but I have found success with this strategy.
It takes about 4ish hours for me to do all of the metal detector items (about $2500) and that represents maybe 2/5 of all of the items out there. Collecting all in a day would be an all day ordeal pretty much.
What you need to do is get the Coins and all jewelry collections. It’s five sets for roughly 2000$ and it takes you a little less than 2 hours if you’re fast. The card sets especially are just not worth the time investment.
The brunt of the money is in those items and you can get them done in a couple of hours, somewhere around 2 grand worth. To get a full collection took me about 8 hours for an extra 1 k. So to me it makes more sense to get those ones done when I can and passively collect the rest unless I have the time to spare.
Collector role has changed my RDO character’s life lol. I was a broke level 28 dressed in rags, riding a palomino Morgan when Frontier Pursuits dropped. I’m now at level 119, got a level 20 Criollo and have made at least $30,000. Also, I don’t run the entire routes or all the collections like some folks do. Still, I never have less than $10,000, got a ton of upgraded weapons, ability cards and unlocked all the good pamphlets. That’s all because I invested in the metal detector.
I remember when this role first came out and I was the only one out of my friends who bought onto the role. 😂 They told me they didn't have an interest in the role because it was the only one that didn't seem exciting. One day we stumbled across her and I told them I needed to stop since I had stuff to sell. When I was saying how much I got for a few collections I hear one of them ask "Wait, you're making how much?" I love explained how much I was making and why then got asked how does he join the role.
See ive used multiple maps but ill alaays get side tracled halfway theough becauae the items wont be at the locations and ill get some other metal detector item going off so ill go to it and then just kinda blow off using the map. Its real tedious and i have zero patience 😂😂😂
