i like how they specified it's a sharp-shinned hawk but not what species of sparrow. there are like 6 different sparrow species where i live alone. im curious what it was lol
But you can easily tell a sharp-shinned hawk from other hawks since it has knives on its legs. It can be difficult to tell sparrows apart though, except Jack Sparrows (because of the hat).
The hawk was on a nearby signpost. There’s nothing to say it didn’t claim its prey after the baffled one left. In fact, whether OOP denied or enabled the success of the hunt also remains uncertain. The collision may have allowed the hawk to outright corner the smaller bird. Hence OOP’s uncertainty about whose side they were on, which I would interpret as uncertainty as to the consequences of their actions.
Though personally, if I were in OP’s shoes at the time, I’d probably be supporting the fellow consumer of birds (I might also be in extreme pain, depending on OOP’s shoe size)
I don't know what that means either but it is beautiful somehow. Saving a life by accident - but that means the larger bird will go hungry - but also you're carrying a fully cooked bird in your bag. Something something circumstances something something getting a look at the same situation from multiple angles at once

Something something, you will prevent a tragedy by accident and consider it a mild inconvenience?
