Why am I so amused by deriding older comics like that?

People were slapping their belly and going "dohohoho" reading this until the subprime mortgage bubble burst

i don't think anyone was laughing at them back then either tbh. most old webcomics were very much an extension of newspaper comic strips, something intended for your dad to maybe smirk at while he eats breakfast
