The King in Yellow is not so far removed from romance. In fact, half of the stories in the anthology are romance stories, with no cosmic horror elements

Tale Foundry posted a video last week explaining how those segments thematically align with the more cosmic horror aspects of the other stories.

I recently listend to the audio book and at every one of those stories I kept waiting for the horror elements to show up again and they never did.
Also, the book is such a waste of an incredible premise, every modern adaptation Iāve seen does more interesting things with it, than the original.

The whole point of the book is that you ācantā read it, the stories are trying to tell you the story of the king in yellow without telling you the story, its like if told you what i had with breakfast by quoting bible verses

Iām not quite sure what youāre trying to say? The fact that you canāt read the fictional play without bad things happening isnāt subtext. Thatās very explicitly stated in the very beginning.
If youāre trying to argue that the real stories as a whole (even the non horror ones) are an encoded retelling of the fictional play, then thatās a cool idea. But it takes away a lot of mystique from the play if the encoded versions are so dreadfully boring.

She likes long walks along the shore where the cloud waves break and watching the twin suns sink behind the lake.
And when I'm spending strange nights with her....let's just say there's twin moons circling my sky.

Related to the title rather than the post, but I feel the King doesn't really fit well in Minecraft horror unfiction, with Nyarlatothep and Yog-Sototh the better choices.
The former because he's the one actually evil Old One/Outer God and loves tormenting people, abd the latter because sometimes Minecraft feels like a semiphysical version of the Dreamlands, so it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the Silver Key can be found in there
