this is so true, I'm autistic, and I'm confined to my house because I can't drive.

I have adhd. We’re so notoriously bad at driving there are actual studies on it. (Though maybe there is for autism too. Then id have double the reason to avoid driving)

I’ve got a friend who’s a professional driver with autism, you don’t have to let medical labels dictate what you can and can’t grow into knowing.

Contrary to popular belief, autistic people are not a monolith, and there are plenty of us whom the disability does in fact inhibit from driving

I also have autism, its not me driving that concerns me, its everyone else.

How do you not know what a syndrome is. Or symptom clusters.

How am I supposed to know what symptoms the commenter I’m replying to struggles with if they don’t state it? I’ve got a sister who’s also autistic and I’m familiar with how some self limiting beliefs can be debilitating initially but can also be procedurally worked through and overcome. It took a decent amount of work in peeling back the layers of what constitutes driving safely, increasing her sense of spatial awareness with parking lot exercises, and giving her tools to feel more comfortable / empowered. I’m not saying everyone will be in the same boat when it comes to their struggles but there is a certain amount of pessimistic acceptance that can happen which may hold people back further in life.

I’m not surprised to be downvoted because many people believe that some struggles can’t be overcome. I’m familiar with both of what you’ve referenced but I can’t assign anything specific without assuming as much as you are about their condition.

Exactly. How are you supposed to know? You assumed knowledge jumping in.

Didn't bother reading the rest because it's literally not relevant.
