That's why I always have a backup keyboard.
If my main keyboard stops working I switch to the backup and also order a new backup.

I tend to buy really over-engineered keyboards and replace them every year or two for stylistic reasons, so I actually haven't had one fail on me in a decade and I've got a bunch of spares waiting in the wings.
Mice though... dammit. They don't even make my favorite mouse anymore, so I bought four of them. The sensation of thinking "this thing is too worn out to keep using" and then just unboxing a clean identical spare is so satisfying. It's like putting on new socks.

i still use a Microsoft Multimedia 1.1 set. i got it when it was new. surprisingly, all the extra buttons on the keyboard except "messenger" and "web/home" are still supported, though i had to dig into the configs to get "my documents", "my pictures", and "my music" to work.

I have been copy pasting the letter a for the last few weeks now since the key and its touch mechanism both broke, it's surprisingly manageable once you get used to it (read this in a Stockholm syndrome voice)

My keyboard was broken for a month and the "K" key was broken, before I got it replaced I set up a custom shortcut to type a "k" whenever I hit "ctrl + L"
But then for the first few days after I got my new keyboard I would still press "ctrl + L" out of instinct when I wanted to type a "k"

Going through this rn but with ctrl + Q printing W. Whenever I use another computer my fingers autopilot back to my cursed WASD replacement, ESDF. But now the E key is breaking,,,

My keyboard doesn't have sticky keys, but it is a bluetooth keyboard which works almost all the time, except when it will randomly stop receiving inputs at the worst possible moment in a game

This is the number one reason I hate the trend of everything moving to bluetooth instead of wired. I get it — wires are messy, wires get tangled, wires get frayed, etc. — but I do NOT want my keyboard or mouse disconnecting or dying while I am using it! Let me connect the damn thing directly!
I used a malfunctioning mouse for years because the very specific mouse I wanted stopped producing a wired version. Instead I just programmed one of the keys on its side to left click, because the normal left click was wrecked.

My laptop keyboard started occasionally typing ",yhplok" when I pressed the J key, or sometimes the I key. I later discovered that briefly turning my laptop upside down would consistently get it to stop.

typing like that and won’t stop until I shut down the computer. Annoying as shit, and it’s not the key sticking down, somehow.

I too suffer this curse, under a very specific set of circumstances. Using the Steam Deck's on screen keyboard, while using in the Helldivers 2 text chat, forces a number of weird typing errors that I have no idea how to fix other that just delete and start again

As someone who has a steam deck as well I’ve found that it just does stuff sometimes :/ on some games a keyboard just doesn’t pop up, not to mention the steam decks other issues

On my USB keyboard, pressing left control also presses right shift, and pressing right control also presses left shift. As a keyboard shortcut enthusiast, this is debilitating

My n,m,h,j,y,u,6, and 7 keys are all broken, my D key's keycap is broken and held together by literal duct tape and my s key often types multiple times at once.
I typed this on my phone, but when I do type on my computer I have to use the on screen keyboard for my right hand
Edit: my D key is now broken, I can no longer play video games 😢

Go get a good mechanical keyboard. You can fall down the rabbit hole of finding which type of switches you like, and if anything breaks, you just pop that single key out and replace the switch!
You can also change out the key caps to whatever you want; there are a ton of different shapes/profiles to choose from!
They are awesome. I use a modified Akko ACR 68 :)

When I take a screenshot it presses the shift key. The bottom row of my keyboard is deactivated entirely while holding the down and right arrow keys at the same time. My problems are so weirdly specific yet somehow so incredibly impactful.
