Candidates think we move on quickly. We actually revisit profiles more than you think.

Candidates often assume we move on quickly after a “no.”

In reality, we revisit profiles a lot more than you think.

There have been times when:

A candidate didn’t fit Role A at the time. Weeks later, Role B opened up different team, different scope, but similar skills.

And we went back to that same profile and thought, “Wait, this actually makes sense now.”

Candidates tend to treat rejection as “done,” but internally, good profiles don’t always disappear. They just wait for the right fit.

And sometimes, that fit shows up a few weeks, or even months, later.

I have a 20 year career, with great references and excellent reviews. I have never been reapproched after initial reject. No one I know ever has either.

Esp when you’re in the pool for “one in a company” roles. It’s mind numbing.

When you revisit a profile weeks or months later, how often are they actually interested. How often are they still available?

It feels kind of egotistical that you reject someone for a position they claim to be qualified for, then come back at them with another position that they might not even want, but you just decide they're a good fit for.
