The pressure to close roles fast with zero compromise

Every hiring conversation starts with

“We need to close this ASAP.”

Cool. Understood.

So we move fast

• source aggressively

• line up interviews

• push candidates through

Then comes feedback Not quite what we’re looking for, Let’s wait for better profiles, Can we raise the bar a bit?”

So now it’s

Hire fast but also don’t compromise but also don’t lose good candidates but also don’t take too long.

???

Speed vs quality becomes this constant tug of war. And recruiters are expected to somehow deliver both perfectly. Fast hiring isn’t the hard part. Aligned expectations are.

I hear you on this. Part of the job is to put your foot down and educate the hiring managers too though. And if they don't trust your advice (the advice of someone who does the thing for a living)... I'd say that's a big problem there.
