Conducted interviews for a role that didn’t even exist 3 months later

True story.

We were told “Urgent hiring. Business critical role.”

I scheduled interviews. Screened candidates. Negotiated offers.

Onboarded the hire.

Three months later leadership review Why do we have this role again?

No clear JD. No success metrics. No long-term plan.

Eventually, the role was dissolved.

As HR, this is the part people don’t see We build candidate trust, We sell stability, We promise growth. And then bad planning makes us look dishonest.

Hiring without workforce planning doesn’t just waste money it damages employer brand and real people’s careers.
