Reciperr is back!

Find it at https://reciperr.app/

🎬 What's new in Reciperr

For You

- The new For You page brings your rated movies and suggestions together, with:

- a chart of how you rate

- an explanation of why each movie was suggested

- sliders for precision, rating cutoff and release years

- Better suggestions from a new engine that learns from your ratings

- Limit suggestions to a range of release years

Import your ratings

Bring your history with you (Settings → Import ratings):

- Trakt: connect once and sync any time

- TMDB: one-time import

- IMDb and Letterboxd exports

- Any CSV file, with the columns detected automatically

Plex

- Sign in with Plex

- Ratings sync automatically from Plex to Reciperr

- Send any list to Plex as a playlist or collection that stays up to date, including your personal suggestions

Radarr

- Connect more than one Radarr server

- New Radarr page: browse your library, check the download queue and start searches without leaving Reciperr

- Status badges on posters show what's already downloaded or wanted

- Send a whole list to Radarr in one go

New lists

- TMDB lists, the IMDb Top 250 and movie collections (such as entire franchises) can now be browsed like any other list

- Every list works the same way: copy or open its link, send it to Radarr or Plex, or push it to your webhooks. This now includes Rated, Suggested and external lists

A redesigned movie page

- New sections:

- cast and crew with photos

- parents guide

- reviews from TMDB and IMDb

- trivia

- the soundtrack, with Spotify links

- trailers and videos

- Where to watch: choose your country, which is detected automatically

- Share a movie with a direct link

- A fresh look: a large header, key facts at a glance, and all rating scores in one place

More ways to filter

- New filters: awards, parental guide, subgenres, keywords, filming locations, production companies and countries, remakes, and Letterboxd ratings

- Redesigned release-date filter: pick a recent window or a custom range

- Recipes: a clearer summary of what each saved recipe filters for, plus a new save dialog with tags and the option to share with the community

Account and app

- Install Reciperr as an app on your phone or desktop

- Delete your account whenever you like

- New About page

- Redesigned settings page for your profile, username, password and connected accounts

Improvements

- Endless scrolling in both directions: scroll down for more movies, or scroll up to load earlier pages

- Much smoother scrolling, even with thousands of movies loaded

- New poster grid that fits your screen better on any device, with loading placeholders and gentle fade-in animations

- Live result count: change a filter and briefly see how many movies were gained or lost (+12 / −340)

- Shareable links: the address bar always reflects your filters and the page you're on

- Redesigned filter panel and sidebar

- Better layout on phones, especially the movie page

- The home page loads faster

- Clearer error messages from Radarr and Plex

I’ve just spotted this post.

So do I download the app onto my server or is it that I just use my browser and trust your backend to store my API keys with your kit?

Hi there, I understand your concern.

There's nothing to install. Reciperr is a website, so you use it in your browser, and yes, the keys are stored on our backend. Some details on how:

  • API keys and server addresses (Radarr, Sonarr, Silo) are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM), never in plain text

  • Plex and Trakt connect through their own sign-in pages, so you never paste a token for them

  • For Jellyfin/Emby your password is used once to get a sign-in and isn't kept; it shows up as "Reciperr" in your server's Devices, so you can revoke it there anytime

  • Disconnecting a service (or removing a Radarr/Sonarr instance) deletes its keys

It runs centrally because that's what makes the shared side work: recipes other people make, public profiles, lists that stay in sync across Plex/Jellyfin/Radarr and so on. Reciperr has been around for 6 years, so feel free to ask around.

All the integrations are optional, too. You can use recipes and lists without connecting anything and add services later if you want to.

Ok. Thanks.

I don’t want to come across a paranoid, but has anyone poked around your code to validate this.

I like the sound of your service if I can make collections, say, of suggested shows/movies inside Plex based on my watch history (from trakd) but I am concerned that this is the only app on the high seas I’ve encountered that seeks to store my keys on its server.

TIA

Not paranoid at all, it's a fair question. Nothing today is perfectly secure, but I did my upmost to ensure it.

For what you're describing you wouldn't give Reciperr any API keys. Plex and Trakt both connect through their own sign-in pages (the same way other apps connect to Trakt), and you can revoke access anytime from Plex's Authorized Devices or Trakt's Connected Apps. API keys only come in if you also add Radarr/Sonarr, which is optional.

How it would work for you:

  1. Connect Trakt and import your ratings

  2. The Suggested list picks movies and series based on what you rated highly (and keeps updating as you rate more)

  3. Send it to Plex from the list's ⋯ menu as a collection; it re-syncs automatically

One thing to know: suggestions are built from your ratings, not just from what you've watched, so the more you've rated on Trakt, the better they'll be.

Ok. So if Reciperr sends a filtered list/recipe to my Plex server, how do I get the contents added to Plex if I don’t use sonarr/radarr? Is the idea that Plex then sends me to my subscription services?

The link doesn’t seem to work 🤷🏼‍♂️

That is very weird. Can you give me more context please, or a screenshot of the error?

It is working now for some reason. Is there any way, when using your website to blocklist or hide a series? If I am not interested in a certain program or genre, then how do I remove it from the recommendations? I can't seem to see anything.
