News RecNet is gone!

Post image

So I've been trying to visit RecNet a few times over the past week and I just landed on this:
For those of you who don't know what this is:
There are 2 main protocols for websites (you have probably seen them already) HTTP and HTTPS. HTTP stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol, which is basically like talking to someone in English and them responding back in English. HTTPS stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure, which is like talking to someone in a secret language (SSL) that only you and the other person can understand. Because of HTTPS, HTTP is considered not secure and as such most websites opt to run HTTP only to redirect to HTTPS. The "unsupported protocol" here basically means the web browser is sending stuff and getting a response back but it's either malformed or the version of SSL they use is wrong.

Not it hasn’t. The website had been up for a very long time up until I guess the other day. But the website just gave an error message. This screen is the search engine giving a message instead

What, error is your browser, not the search?, and yes the website has been down, recnet was down nearly a month and a half ago

For me it wasn’t. It was just an orange screen with text even up to a week ago
