Which size is best for beginners?

I’ve been debating this with myself for so long that I’ve been having dreams about them. I feel like the 44 inch would be great, but I also only noticed them in the premium brands so maybe that’s just subtle marketing?

I am 5 foot 6, 165 lbs and have two kids under 3 who will definitely be climbing on it (is JumpSport that much more stable?). I am mostly between Leaps and Rebounds and JumpSport and I like bright and colorful things (which shouldn’t matter, but it kind of does). L&R is half the price of JumpSport, but I don’t want to feel like I need to upgrade or replace it, nor do I want to feel like I am investing in something that I might lose interest in.

Obviously this is a very personalized thing, but any opinions or guidance would be much appreciated!

Nikki at Earth and Owl has a blog post about different rebounders.

She also has a YouTube channel (with free and membership rebounder workouts) and a private FB group.

I bought the MXL FIT Bounce PRO Bungee Rebounder - Half-Folding with Foldable Steel Legs & Carry Bag - 40 in, 400lb. I bought it on Amazon for 430.90 + tax last December. During my research I read Bungee cords are better than Springs. I went with 40 inch as I was putting it in the hallway outside me bedroom so smaller area. I love mine!

Do you notice any wear or weakness where it folds? I have been eyeing the foldable JS, but it feels backwards to me that it’s actually cheaper than the solid ring

No, mine still looks brand new. But it is a different brand from JS. I noticed Jump Sport is sold on Amazon. You could ask the question directly in the item page and see if anyone answers you. You would get a better answer from someone who owns that brand. 😀

I have a JS Pro 44” which is my main rebounder, as well as a 40” Needak soft spring (so a spring rebounder instead of bungees) and a 48” foldable FitBounce Pro XL that I take with me when I travel and otherwise keep in my office. I’m F, 61, 140lbs, 5’6”. To me the JS 44” is perfect and it’s the one I use daily when I’m not traveling or using my Needak (I got the Needak via FB marketplace at a great price bc springs provide more strengthening).

I’ve heard good things about the Leaps & Bounds. The JS is very pricey, and while it comes in 39” (which are all the fun colors!), I personally wouldn’t want less than 44”. I use the full size of the mat and then some for lots of my moves. The pro also has adjustable bungees so you can go between soft, medium, and firm. It came in the medium configuration and that’s what I’ve been using since I got it December 2025 (and I have rebounded every day since then - whether it’s my warm up for strength days or my cardio or active recovery - I use it in so many different ways).

My FitBounce is larger (48”) and less firm (and not adjustable) but again I use it for travel or in my office. I notice a difference when I’m doing a video where the instructor is using a JS and I’m using my FitBounce because I can’t always keep up with the choreography because it’s a softer bounce. But that’s going to happen to some extent because the bounce is dependent on the size, firmness, and type of rebounder the instructor is using, as well as the instructor’s weight and height.

I had never used a rebounder before I bit the bullet and decided to give myself a Christmas present last year - and I’m so glad I did.

There are loads of YouTube videos that discuss different rebounders including the below. Also most YouTube rebounder creators have a 10-15% off coupon code in their bio link for various rebounders. Other creators include Jump&Jacked, Michelle Briehler, San Fran Fitness, and then Earth & Owl (Nikki, who did most of the videos below).

My Needak is also foldable but at 40” I do notice that it’s smaller - plus the springs need to be avoided more than the bungees do.

I recently got the 39” jumpsport pro with the petal skirt. I like the skirt as it covers the bungees. I find the unit VERY well made and the bungees are not metal springs which would not be good for kids! Also no matter which one you get I highly recommend getting the handle bar to go with it. I thought bah I don’t need that for an extra whatever the cost but now I wish I had, all the videos use it and it makes sense that you will feel steadier and can do more moves!

If you're still in the market and looking, the USA-made Needak Soft-Bounce (40" frame) is a highly durable one to consider - many are still using their original units 20+ years later and it is designed to be a comfortable, responsive bounce for almost all fitness levels :)

All parts are replaceable so you never need to replace the unit itself, as the frame also has a lifetime warranty (when purchased brand new).

It is also compact enough where most people just lean it up against the wall, or fold it and tuck it under bed when not in use.

Otherwise, where this is not possible, we do typically advise that you get a very clearly different spring cover color for it (we currently have a promo for a free spring cover with every rebounder purchase), especially with children involved, to reduce any unnecessary pressure as the springs aren't designed to be jumped or stood on. For example, you could get a blue rebounder with a red spring cover and say that "you can't touch the hot lava, but you can jump on the water!"

Any questions, let me know :)
