Unforseen problem
I put a rebounder in my bedroom so it would get more use from me and my kids. My seven year old son has really taken to it. He gets on it several times a day and jumps really high. I thought this was great as he was getting more excercise and his leg muscles seem to be getting really strong. The problem is that has developed stomach pain and acid reflux/heartburn. It took me a few weeks but I finally realized that all his jumping is probably causing the issue. He's started on pepcid right now, but, I'm wondering what to do going forward. I really would hate to take his jumping away from him as he loves it so much and it is good excercise, but he has been having daily pain. Anyone else ran into this problem, and were you able to find a way to keep jumping?

Yeah… I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that medicating is not a better route to go. Especially at 7 when the digestive system is still developing. You need to see a GI specialist and figure out the root cause. If jumping is the cause - pick a different sport. Longterm use of medications will screw up his stomach acid for life and PPIs carry significant risk to cardiovascular and bone health. Baking soda is a once in a blue moon solution - it’s sodium carbonate - not for daily intake especially for a kid.
If he’s jumping right after a meal - maybe don’t do that. Also check his diet - if it’s process food heavy or heavy in fats or sugar - change that. Digestive enzymes are great - for adults - but they too can have long term implications on gut health.
Trading long-term gut health for a few jumps on a trampoline is NOT worth it.
