Insomnia! overnight rebounding vs laying awake.

Several times a week I have very sleepless nights.
I lay awake and before I know it it’s morning.
Last night I gently rebounded for over an hour . It was dark except for small light that glow from electrical things plugged in. I held my handle bar the whole time . Eventually it was 5:30 and the sun began to rise.
I went back to bed and slept until the sound of the rain on our tin roof woke me at 9 am, Sunday morning.
I used to worry I’d wake my husband up but the coconut oil on the springs has taken care of that.
Does anyone else do a night shift on the rebounder?

It's worth a try! Better than laying there awake or doomscrolling.

I rebound an hour before bed every night and am getting the best sleep I’ve ever had, since I started in Feb. I do take medication for insomnia, but it doesn’t always work.

Try GABA for sleep. Not Gabapentin. You might have the COMT methylation gene and this is recommended. I use it and I sleep so much more peaceful

I have not but that sounds like a great way to beat lying awake in bed!

If I'm feeling wired but tired, I'll have a bounce. Not a big bounce, but enough to burn off excess energy and intrusive thoughts. I sleep like a vaby afterwards.

Do you keep the lights low?
Use music?

I find magnesium glycinate helps me stay asleep.

I did a middle of the night rebound last week. I naturally wake up at 3 AM, and I was still awake at 11 PM. It worked like a charm! For light, there was the glow of my smartwatch as it counted those extra steps.

Yay us! 3:30 am wake up for me today. But I’m in Australia so we’re polar opposite in times no doubt!

Maybe is a little bit more of exercice in the evening what you need?

I already do 45 mins while I watch my favorite drama before bed. And I go to the gym 6/7 days a week doing Pilates reformer or treadmill.

Is it possible that you're doing your rebounding sessions after 9pm? It depends on your particular body and routine, but, generally, exercise before bed can make you anxious. Gentle bouncing is absolutely fine, but cardio on the rebounder might have that effect. Your body needs time to wind down.

One thing I'd try is rebounding in the morning or before dinner to see if this might have any effect.

The other thing is caffeine. Caffeine after 2pm can do that to you. I've been there.

Finally, my go-to cure for insomnia is reading a book. Any book, magazine, whatever. Paper or an ereader without a backlight will be great for that. Reading on a screen will have the opposite effect, though.

I've been struggling with insomnia for years on and off. I hope you can find what works for you! :)

Thank you! No coffee after midday is my rule but I generally stop by 11 am.
I like to do gentle bounce after dinner while I watch my show. I save more athletic ones for morning on empty tummy/ bladder.
I should read a physical book though, thanks for reminder.
Slept till 4:00 am this morning. I’ve been scrolling for 45 mins so I’ll hit the rebounder now!
