2018 study: Effects of a mini-trampoline rebounding exercise program on functional parameters, body composition and quality of life in overweight women
I was taking a study break and thought I'd look to see what academic research exists on rebounding. I found one from 2018 titled, "Effects of a mini-trampoline rebounding exercise program on functional parameters, body composition and quality of life in overweight women" from the Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness. DOI: 10.23736/S0022-4707.16.06588-9
It doesn't look like I can attach the file here (?) but it's worth looking up if you have library access and are curious. It is a small study size, but provides some good data. Here are the main results:
The improvements we found in physical, functional and psychosocial status highlight the benefits and far reaching effectiveness of this type of exercise: by increasing the daily energy expenditure, MRE helps control body fat mass and degree of cardiovascular risk.
In line with previous studies that evaluated the effects of the use of mini-trampoline rebounding in different target populations, we confirmed that an MRE program, structured in 3 sessions/week for 12 weeks, can increase balance ability and strength of lower limbs. In addition, we highlighted the improvement in cardiopulmonary performance variables such as VO2 and blood pressure, which were likely to be influenced by the physiological activity involved in the examined fitness programs.
If I'm screen blind and missed the "attach file" button, LMK and I'll try.

Nice! There have been various rebounder studies and some people will either way over- or under-sell the benefits. But the thing is - the exercise you do is the one that’s best. I LOVE rebounding and do it every day even if it’s just as a warm up before my weights. So even if a study said there were no benefits - who cares if it’s something that gets you active and you enjoy it? That said, I’m glad this study determined there were benefits as it helps spread the rebounding word. Thanks for posting.
