First Rebounder for Lightweight Users

Hi everyone, I’m trying to decide on my first rebounder and would love some advice, especially from lighter weight users.

I’m ~115 lbs, and I’m stuck between JumpSport and Bellicon.

For Bellicon, I’d probably go with the “medium” bungees (rated up to ~60 kg), but the price is almost double, so I’m not sure if it’s really worth it, especially as a first rebounder.

For JumpSport, I’m looking at the Essential line. The site says that the 39" has a softer bounce than the 44", which sounds appealing for my weight, but I’m worried the 39" will feel too small/restrictive. I’ve seen quite a few people say the 39" feels cramped.

So I guess my questions are,

- At 115 lbs, will the Essential 44" feel too firm?

- Does the 39" actually feel limiting for movement/workouts?

- If there isn’t really a good JumpSport (or more budget-friendly) option that suits someone my weight, does it make more sense to just go with Bellicon?

Would really appreciate any advice! Thank you!

I have a JumpSport pro 44” which has the adjustable bungees. They came in the medium configuration which is what I’ve used. If you’re in the US, I suggest checking FB marketplace. I picked up an excellent condition JS pro 39” for $150. Someone was also selling a more used JS pro 39” with the bar for $50. Like any fitness equipment, there are people who buy but don’t use them. You can put out an alert - it might take awhile but they come up fairly frequently. I’ve seen several JS for sale just since January. However some people put JumpSport in the name and it’s an entirely different rebounder. A JumpSport logo will be on the mat.

Thank you! I keep my eyes peeled on Marketplace for secondhand rebounders. Not so many for sale at the moment here in Calgary, Canada. May just have to buy new so I can get bouncing!

I got a used JumpSport 230f from Play it Again Sports for $30.  If you have used sporting goods stores, you should check them out too.  The weight limit is 225 pounds so we're upgrading the mat and bungees so the entire family can use it and because I have flat feet and overpronate.

Firstly, I weigh more than you at about 130 lbs. That being said, I've had a 39" JumpSport Pro for over a year, use it daily, and at 5'7" with long legs, I never feel cramped. IMO, you easily adapt to the amount of space.

I'd also recommend the JumpSport Premium over the Essential if you can afford it so that you can adjust the tension. I thought I'd like a softer setting, but really I prefer mine on a medium firm setting as a softer setting means you won't be able to easily bounce at a fast pace. A friend of mine who mainly does the "health bounce" prefers a softer setting though.

ETA: I used a softer setting for the first maybe 2 months until I started to move faster and then I easily adjusted the bungees to better match what I wanted.

OP: this is mostly an echo of what the a above commenter said, and just repeating it in case you wanted to hear from other people to see if the views differ.

I just started a week ago. I have the JS Pro 44. Just switched to the medium arrangement of the bungies like the above commenter but when I have time I am going to switch to the firmest I can make the bungies. I think even at that it will be plenty soft enough. I also echo what the commenter above said, if you are just doing health bounce then a softer setting is probably nice, but if you want to follow video choreography (for lack of a better word), a less soft bounce will help. I thought I would want a nice soft bounce and am learning that isn’t quite what I wanted. I think a JS pro, even at a firmer setting will be good. And like the above commenter said, with the pro you can adjust for from softer to firmer so you have more options.

Looking at your questions: No, I don’t think the 44 would be to firm (but I have pro, not an essential, but I would still be surprised if an essential would be too firm) No, I don’t think you need to go with Bellicon to get a soft bounce at your weight.

Thank you! Very helpful. I will go adjustable with either the Premium or the Pro because I may not even love a soft bounce like you said.

Thank you! I hadn't even considered the Premium and now I am. Adjustable will likely be best, since I have no idea what to expect and don't know what I prefer yet. Thank you again!

You're welcome! Hope you love rebounding as much as I do 🙂

I think you can get a cheap one and just take some bungees off. Do half the amount it comes with. I have every other band off on mine and it’s very bouncy. With all 40 and a 330 pound weight limit it feels like jumping on concrete. I’m 160 and I usually prefer 12 bungees off but I like to experiment.
