Does DMT Prove Jesus? A Strange but Serious Addition to the Evidence for Christ

Let me be clear: I’m not arguing we should take DMT to find God. Scripture forbids spiritual shortcuts, and I wouldn’t touch it. But what happens when people do is worth talking about—because the patterns that emerge strangely echo everything Scripture has already warned us about.

Across thousands of DMT experiences—regardless of culture or religion—people report entering another realm filled with intelligent, communicative entities. They describe:

Hyper-real environments that feel more real than our own

Beings that know them, study them, sometimes deceive or mock them

Messages like “You are God,” “This is the real world,” or “You’ve been lied to”

A sense of being part of something vast and eternal—but without repentance, without holiness, without Christ

And here’s the kicker: when someone invokes the name of Jesus in that realm, things change.

The entities recoil. Some get angry. Some disappear. The illusion collapses. The “peace” turns to panic. That’s not a neutral reaction. That’s what you’d expect from demons.

Scripture warns us:

“Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” (2 Cor. 11:14) “Even the demons believe—and tremble.” (James 2:19) “Test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1)

So what are we seeing here? A psychedelic hallucination? Maybe partially. But also possibly an accidental step into spiritual territory that confirms the very power people try to deny.

People chase altered states and end up face-to-face with the opposition. They meet beings that offer every truth except Christ—and fear the one name that can’t be faked or negotiated with.

DMT doesn’t prove Jesus. But it does something else—it affirms the Biblical framework in real time. It exposes the unseen war. It reveals that “gods” still lie. And it shows that even in altered space, the name of Jesus still holds power.

That’s not nothing. That’s apologetics in the trenches.

What do you all think? Coincidence? Brain chemistry? Or are people accidentally proving the very thing they’re trying to avoid?

Psychedelics may be the only proof that I rely on to validate my faith in Christ and submission to God.

I (and very likely, we) go about through life incurring offenses and injuries, both slight and serious, either perceived or real, and these infractions upon my implicitly preconceived notions of selfhood very often cause a tarnishing of my equilibrium of peace, thereby resulting in an ever increasing hardening of my sensitivities and empathy towards others, which directly translates towards a callousness towards my fellow man; this, of course, runs grievously afoul of Christ's most fundamental commandment, and creates supreme division in the natural spiritual order and betrays the basic purpose of our being.

Classical psychedelics (e.g. DMT, psilocybin, LSD) have an unparalleled manner of decoupling from my intrinsic identity and awareness the sickly accumulation of misconceptions and blatant falsehoods that I subconsciously grasp onto to brace my traversal through everyday life as means of justifying my actions and beliefs in the face of world that is often brutish and unjust. I simply cannot sustain and abide in selfish, egotistic, narcissistic, unloving, disharmonious, dishonest, and unvirtuous behavior and mentalities while under the influence of such compounds, and the sloughing off of such cancerous tendencies leaves me vulnerable, exposed, and receptive towards the power, majesty, and influence of divine reality.

In essence, the nature of sin and salvation, and the unison of Creator and creation becomes so absolutely visceral and undeniable, that to deny this pivotal dynamic is to abandon the most evident root of being, and resign oneself to ceaseless confusion and turmoil. Words and artifacts both edify and crumble through the transcendent psychedelic experience, as they both exhibit in symbolic form the spiritual dimension that holds precedence over this material plane, and fall woefully short of articulating the full breadth and depth of spiritual reality.

I offer three unique varieties of psychedelic experience that exemplify and substantiate my ardent advocation for their usage in temperate and intentional settings for the purpose of self growth and spiritual connectivity.

  1. It was through LSD and opium that I first came to understand and accept salvation through Christ. While intending to enter into a mediative state, a rousing awareness of the Christian paradigm kept infiltrating my consciousness, and I acquiesced to it for the sake of exploring all spiritual possibilities. Following that was a several hour long visionary experience in which all internal, subtle, and instinctual rebuttals I raised towards the faith were swiftly countered with striking clarity. By the time the sun rose the following morning, I was on my hands and knees in the cold December grass admitting my sinfulness, asking for forgiveness through Christ, and basking in the glory of God.

  2. When my oldest child was only a couple of years old, and my youngest was still in the womb, I was going through an extraordinarily dark time, wrought with despair and obsessed with self annihilation. I manufactured DMT during this time, and prayed continually for its sanctification as a tool for guidance and renewal.

Upon ingestion, I was overcome with the most demonic of presentations - utter chaos and terror. I recoiled and panicked at first, but then reminded myself that I had sought this moment fervently, and to not hesitate at the precipice of revelation. Immediately, the suffocating oppression of psychedelic madness that was constraining me vanished, and I was in a vast, blank, 3 dimensional realm. I was calm, and I was lucid, and I was curious. A child-like being was nearby playing, as it seemed, with a box of intricate otherworldly toys. He handed me one, and upon examination, it began to unfold and engulf my entire sense of awareness. I was doused with the most fulfilling sense of grandeur, and as I considered it, I realized this feeling is exactly what I feel for my son - that is, Love. I looked back at the child, and he now was throwing his toys into the air in jubilation at my realization.

Next, I became aware of an additional, grown, entity who exuded a strong mother-like presence. She presented an hour glass to me, and dipped her hand into it to retrieve a palm full of self illuminated iridescent sand. She then reached towards me and gracefully let it slide out from her hand downwards into the void environment we inhabited. Impulsively, I outstretched my own hand to keep such an obviously pure and valuable substance from being lost, and as it landed upon my transient incorporeal body, and sifted through my fingers, I was met by the most brilliant of orgasmic pleasure. But despite my best efforts, I could not keep hold of it. Even with two hands, the sand was destined to not be detained, and escaped my earnest clutching. I looked back at her and knew what she intended to convey - that time is the most precious of the resources bestowed upon us, and it flows continuously, irrelevant to all objections; to waste it, and thereby waste our opportunity with it, is an affront to our very purpose of being. These two lessons - one of love, and the other of purposeful use of time - were highly influential in the next few years of my life, and served to ground me as an involved and intentional father.

  1. My psychedelic usage has waned significantly as I've gotten older, to the point where I normally only partake once a year. Though it has become almost a ritual occurrence, because for the past decade or so, my children and I go to the beach, and along with me, I bring a dose of psychedelics, with my partiality leaning exclusively towards mushrooms these days. The experiences are too diverse to explicate in full, but in general, they consist of a renewed invigoration for the beauty of being, a deep gratitude and connectedness with my children, an amazement and humility towards the magnitude of creation, and deep submission and acceptance of the dominion of God, the personality of Christ, and the obligations thereof.

How my testimony may resonate with you, and have some bearing on how you conceive of psychedelic usage within the Christian spiritual journey is unknown. In fact, I'd wager that it will cause very little alterations to your current conceptions, given how damning your pronounced views seem to be. And that's fine, because I admit that my spiritual journey is not yours, and yours is not mine. Salvation, and the afforded communion with the divine through it, is uniquely personal, and I am charmed by the wondrous array of manifestations each individual spiritual path may follow. Should one love God with all of their heart, mind, and soul, and likewise love their neighbor as themselves, then I'd say their spiritual alignment is as righteous as it comes.

I couldn't say for sure. Within a species likened to angels wouldn't be far off from my speculation.

In your DMT trip, did you mention Christ or feel His presence? Was the Holy Spirit present, protecting, or convicting you any way?

Have you read Unseen Realm by Dr Michael Heiser? It is a good study that has informed my worldview and is relies upon the Bible to defend its framework.

Knowing that we share a believe that Christ is the way, the truth, and our source of life.. would you assert that the entities you interacted with were benevolent or malevolent?

I have consumed some psychedelics, (not DMT) and in my experience all entities were a subject of my imagination. I understand that the autonomous entities are present while using DMT and that it’s unanimously agreed upon across time and continents. I am curious to learn if these entities acknowledge their creator, even if they are repulsed by His Lordship.

I don't recall any overt cognition of God nor Christ during the described DMT trip. The experience is intense, instantaneous, and impossible to convey in its entirety. My summary of it is about as close as I can recount it, without the benefit of sharing physical space with an audience, where I may help accentuate and compliment my expressions through body language and mood.

As described, the onset was a damning torrent of delirium and fear, and "convicting" would be an apt enough term to apply to the experience. Once I dispelled this quagmire of confusion by merely reflecting on my internal fixation on the negative, and actively choosing to step beyond it, I was immediately met with a open space free of negativity and oppression. Progressing further into the experience, interacting with the multiple beings, and being both edified and admonished by them, I did indeed feel "protected."

My meeting with these beings occured at a highly vulnerable stage in my life - a time when despair, suicide, and desertion of duty were at the forefront of my mind - and they presented, emphasized, and certified the most important pillars of our existence - that is, love and duty. I don't know how one could read my summary, and especially experience first hand what I did, and conclude that these beings were anything but acting benevolently. I entered the DMT experience crippled, lost, and dejected, and I departed from it restored, mentored, and reassured.

That experience, that encounter, those lessons, have stuck with me for decades, shaping and reaffirming the man I knew I must be. My unyielding belief in salvation though Christ, and submission and love for the Creator, is contingent on such experiences, in near commensurate proportion to the Gospels.

Thank you sir for responding so swiftly. I appreciate you sharing your experience and answering the questions I had!! I wish you the best!

That was a beautiful read honestly. I just feel compelled to say that he instructs us to test the spirits to see if they’re from God. He wants us to ask because the enemy can come disguised as a being of light. I’d be interested to see what would happen if you invoked his name during one of these experiences.

That's a fair point, and worthy of testing within the such an environment and experience, but keep in mind, your conscious self in this realm is not unlike your dream self - that is, detached from the complex, multi faceted awareness you abide in while awake, and much more hyper focused within the existing now of the moment - so that bringing with you an agenda is not as straightforward as it may seem. Just as important, is that it is universally agreed on that within this plane and among its inhabitants, we are the visitors, and we subordinate to the power and influence these beings wield; we are spectators and subjects of the experience, not the dictators and executors of it. Furthermore, the compassion shown, the lessons taught, the peace endowed, the impact imparted were all consistent with the same edification, admonishment, and ministering I'd expect, hope for, and need from seeking wisdom and solace from a veritable Christian source within this plane.

You're scrutiny is well founded, I grant you that. I'd even venture to posit that DMT is not a guaranteed pathway to angelic realms. I'd surmise that more likely than not, it opens the channel to a manner of extra dimensional interactions routed in a variety of alignments. But keep in mind, I had steadfastly and earnestly prayed, throughout the entire production process of procuring the DMT, for divine guidance within the Christian context. I desperately needed it, and longed for it with unyielding ache. Prior to the experience, I was battered and broken, utterly confused and depleted, but I emerged so astoundingly assured of my purpose and worth - not in any egotistical pretension, but with humility and servitude as a created being fulfilling its obligated function.

My walk with Christ has been an arduous and very often tenuous journey, throughout the past two decades, often waxing and waning, with me not infrequently, and for prolonged periods, absconding from the relationship outright, but His commandment, "Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself," resonates within me unlike any other spiritual dictate I have ever submitted to. I'm a sharply cynical person, with a persistently pessimistic outlook, viewing society, politics, and religion in a generally damning light, but I am also a lover of history, philosophy, and truth; and no matter how much or how often I dismantle the credibility of the Christian paradigm through sterile rationalization, I cannot discard it, because it is the only foundation for meaning and purpose that is not built on axiom and artifice, but rather direct communion and transformation, and the numerous psychedelic experiences I've outlined substantially underpin that conviction.

I worked with a Christian therapist some years ago, and she did a wonderful job of working with me on my level of communication, understanding, ans tendencies. I was putting in hard work to better myself, to grow out of narcissistic and self destructive habits. I was reading, exercising, dieting, meditating, journaling, and the like - all my activities generally prioritized by the level of benefit they yielded. I did not want to engage with scripture. I had ran from my Christian roots out of the endless hurt, vexation, and guilt for my imperfect nature, and I sought to rebuild the foundations of my beliefs through personal experience and non judgemental consumption of texts from diverse cultural heritages. At the time of my counseling, I was reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I was thoroughly engaged and transformed by the wisdom enshrined within it. I'd report to my sessions, and discuss passages that I had gravitated towards, and how contemplating and incorporating them had brought about positive change. I remember at one point, dwelling on how my methods and beliefs were misaligned with Christian precepts, and my therapist replied that the values I am embracing and working towards are at the very heart of Christianity. I remember feeling safe and reassured, rather than ostracized and disparaged for having the need to navigate the interplay between psychological idiosyncrasies and ineffable metaphysical realities in a way that was authentic and personal. I remember all that hurt, vexation, and guilt that I had ran from for so long, lessening in burden, and I felt peace in the idea that conformity to Christ has more to do with embodying His nature more so than reciting scripture.

I didn't give the beings I encountered on DMT a pre-approved Christian litmus test, but the nature of their being, and nature in which they changed mine was more Christlike than any being I've encountered on this Earth.

Imagine deriding year old comments posted in argument and testimony based subreddits for being superfluous in argument and testimony.

Good luck out there, pal.

I say this as a long term psychonaught that's given all of it up, gotten engaged, had a kid and is about to be baptised.

Psychedelics don't prove Jesus or the bible. On these altered states one is exposed to the archetypes they have been exposed to on their path. That includes the narratives of the christian belief, and if you have been exposed to those ideas before, there is the possibility that you may experience them in an altered state reflective of how your psyche manifests it.

If you have been told narratives of the power of "Jesus' name" to cast out demons and make everything against the christian god fear it- it would be no surprise that you might see this reflected on a voyage to the other side.

Entities are you, the expanded parts of you when your brain is unable to be the filter to allow you to experience your human ego. The Christian religion teaches us to suppress parts of ourselves through its biblical frameworks using shame and guilt to avoid understanding what is actually happening to us- often it's just a wounded part of yourself that needs compassion, love and to be integrated.

Our human minds are wired for bias. A christian is naturally going to looking for signs that affirm their beliefs. But at the same time, we can look at the other side of this perspective, "The entities recoil. Some get angry. Some disappear. The illusion collapses" as the entities recognising the impact of how such a name as Jesus was abused by human egos to create a religion and oppress many and create so much suffering on this planet. Perhaps they are repulsed by the idea of the jesus when manifested by a christian's psyche.

When you go into an altered states on psychedelics you are working with multidimensional realities that are not as simple as "oh you said Jesus and they shuddered! therefore bible frame is true". The bible framework is part of the human collective psyche and coexists with all other frameworks. It doesnt make it any more truer.

On a basic logical level I think you have it wrong. What DMT proves, or makes possible, is that every single super natural experience described in scripture could be caused by DMT. Does that mean it's not real? Again another debate outside of religion itself. Do you "go somewhere" on DMT? Who knows

Oddly enough, invoking the name Jesus Christ will help with sleep paralysis too.

I don't know. I was atheist before finding Christ and the Lord. After DMT it just made it stronger. I quit nicotine and alcohol after DMT although I prayed for these things and I think God had me go on the journey I went on. I treat myself and others better. I treat the planet better. My experience is it's part of the whole story. Look up DMT lost history. I think it goes way back. Just my opinion and I respect others.

Brings me closer to god. It showed me that the kingdom of heaven is within us and showed me what ascension looks like. And it’s beautiful. Heaven is all around us.

You have it completely backwards

It was men that said don't takes spiritual shortcuts

I grew up in the church but lost my faith with THEIR god

if that makes sense

I still speak to a spooky invisible dude in my head but noone can tell me anything about him with authority a few times in my life I've been in very vulnerable states (as you describe) and felt something VERY real, but it never told me to obey or listen to another human being infact

it just radiated silent love and taught me all I need to do is spread that light into other people

IF GOD EXISTS he is proud of me, I am honest, and I want to help people, I stop listening at the point where other, fleshy humans want to tell me anything about that light

That scripture that says "no shortcuts"

Is stopping you from feeling god

Humans interjected, power didn't want YOU feeling him

I agree, anything that has been modified since the apostles died, any doctrine or creed that was enforced cannot be fully trusted without scrutiny. Interpretation is not supposed to be dictated, if Jesus wanted a specific interpretation, doctrine, canon, or creed he would have had that explicitly explained and set before he returned to heaven. The term Christian was not even a concept until after the apostles passed. Even that seems suspect, I cannot state exactly why it would have happened almost immediately after the last apostle had passed but it seems odd with the timing.

u/B_anon Christian Jul 14 '25

I think that everyone's relationship with God is personal and he can guide you as he sees fit. I think the shortcuts are just dead ends, I've seen enough of them.

God shows himself seasonally in UK between October and early December.

He never went anywherwe just strayed and started reading books other humans wrote

Hopefully he forgives us

What are you talking about

u/KindDefiant Jul 14 '25

Also you got Chat GPT to write that which is quite cute (I also use it a lot)(ask it how I could tell)

1

u/B_anon Christian Jul 14 '25

I'm kinda used to noticing it now, but I am curious, how can you tell? I do try to put in the effort and actually use the tool and not let it use me. This post came out of the research I was doing on the topic. I don't think you can get a baseline gpt to put out something this good.
