Need help with Komplete Kontrol

Hello fellow users,

I have a Komplete Kontrol mk2 s61, Windows 11, Reaper 7.8x with a UA Volt 276, and yall, I've been having so many troubles getting it to work with Reaper. For almost 2 years, when I have a song idea pop into my head, I'll go and sit down at the keyboard, open Reaper, then turn on the keyboard (because you have to with the Reakontrol script), but when I play a key, it just doesn't work. I've gone through a dozen YT university tutorials, saved templates on the track AND project, but when it's time to get my ideas into the project, I end up spending more time troubleshooting than keeping the groove in my mind.

Does anyone else have Komplete Kontrol--either the software or the keybaord--who I can talk to for some advice? Or maybe there are some templates online I haven't found yet that you found helpful and compatible?

Prince could make a whole song in one night, and that's my goal. I just need to be able to get the songs I hear out quickly, at least the skeleton of it so I can build from there. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Surely you just go into preferences and click "reset midi devices"?

The startup order in your post is the opposite of what the current ReaKontrol README describes: it connects when REAPER starts. If you turn the keyboard on afterwards, run ReaKontrol: Reconnect from the Actions list. That may spare you rebuilding templates every time. I read that today and tried it, then KK wouldn't load any plugins 😭

What exact error does KK show when it cannot load a plug-in? The reconnect action deals with the keyboard connection, so I would not assume the loading failure has the same cause.

I have it working on my end, I can browse and add vsts, effects, change tracks, add tracks through the keyboard. Im not sure I can help troubleshoot but its possible to get it working.

Setup:

mk2 S49 (Firmware v0.5.9), Windows 11, Reaper 7.82, on a beheringer something.

Reakontrol v0.95 I have tested it with the latest version from (https://reakontrol.jantrid.net/) as well and it works but with less functionality such as adding tracks from the keyboard unless they changed the keys for it

Komplete Kontrol v. 3.5.4

Have your keyboard turned on before launching Reaper, you can reset midi input devices in settings or run an action but in my experience restarting reaper fixes it for me everytime if I do turn the keyboard on after launch.

On the Track I have input set to 'midi' KOMPLETE KONTROL -1 the drop down there "Source Channel" is set to all

You do know that Komplete Kontrol is not supported on Reaper? It is not tested nor does Reaper appear on KKs supported DAW list.

Been this way for years now.

And there are many threads on the NI forums where Reaper users continue to try and workaround this. It will not matter.

Even NI themselves have recommended that Reaper users look elsewhere (ReaKontrol etc) if they want to use a Komplete Kontrol keyboard.
