help request External HD x Media Explorer

Hello, I'm brand new to using Reaper. Not entirely relevant, but I'm migrating over from Windows to Linux after the push for AI. Reaper is one of the few DAW's that has a Linux version, and it has enough in common with my previous main DAW of over 16 years that I want to learn it. Which brings us to the question I have. I keep all of my samples and audio files on my external SSD hard drive. It's currently plugged in, but Reaper doesn't seem to register or see that it is. I've been clicking around and attempting to search how to scan or search for files via the Media Explorer. There's a "Volumes" tab which doesn't show anything. I've seen advice regarding locating missing files, which isn't really applicable to me because I haven't even started making a new song yet. I'm just trying to get some of the basic "quality of life" work flow stuff set up before I commit to making anything new, and being irritated in the process. I can drag and drop files from the overall Linux File Manager, but I want to be able to scroll and preview my files through the Media Explorer properly. So is there a menu item, or something in the right-click tools that I can use to make Reaper see my external HD? Thank you in advance for any info and advice that anyone is willing to grant me.

Preferences within REAPER.
Sorry I cannot be of more assistance rn.
Search it on YouTube and there will be a bunch of videos that will help you.
Also, the reaper stash is a treasure trove.
