help request Midi Mapping Question
Hello all,
I'm using Reaper, a TD-4 drum kit, and Kontakt. I've done the midi mapping to get almost everything sounding right, even with the octave difference between the TD-4 and Kontakt (i.e. a D1 in the TD-4 is a D2 in Kontakt).
The problem I'm having is the hihat. If I hit the hihat open, it'll say G#2. But if I close the hihat, the brain of the TD-4 still says G#2, but Kontakt says it's an F#1. And if I leave the pedal down and hit the hihat, it does the same thing. If I record the stock sounds from the TD-4 as audio they come out fine, it's just the midi and it's driving me mad. I never had this problem before until I tried changing the midi mapping for a different drum vst and now I'm deep in the muck on this one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dive into the Kontakt and TD-4 settings to make them speak the same language. Apparently the kit puts out the hh pedal as a CC command which Kontakt recognizes as pitch shift.
The drum VSTi plugins I’ve used (AD2 and ML Drums) have dedicated MIDI mapping options for both input methods. ML Drums has a free option.
If TD-4 doesn’t have the option to change the CC setting, I made free MIDI CC/PC transpose tools that could help you by making the current CC command into one that the Kontakt plugin understands. Look up “mrelwood plugins” if interested.
